Xenon's

Featured Replies

K1W1, thanks for you comments re MDI. I won't bother with it, just buy some Sd cards and use iPOD with earplug cable in centre storage box.

As for Xenons, I'd like to have them but I don't like being on the receiving end of them, very distracting.

I have Auto lights and wipers on my Civic, but could easily do without them.

They dont turn on when you want them to..or viceversa....

Just a gimmic really

I have not specified them on my new vRS

I have auto lights and usually switch them on manually as I like the DRLs better.

I got them because I wanted the auto dimming mirror and rain sensor though.

Thanks everyone for completely confusing me. :wonder:

It appears as though I need all the extras.

The Xenons sound like they may be useful as we have a bad Kangaroo problem in Preston at this time of year :giggle:

And dont get me started on the Wilderbeast........ :D

If you are buying from Simpsons make sure you go through the spec carefully with them (once you have decided!).

You haven't even mentioned the colour yet ... :)

The adapter is basically a cable. You can see it plugged into the MDI in this photo

There are 4 different cables available, USB, Mini USB, AVI (standard 3.5mm plug) and iPod.

The iPod cable only works with USB iPods if you have one of the older Firewire models it's no good.

You have no control over the iPod from the Bolero you simply get to play songs from the iPod using the Bolero interface which is both slow and clunky. IMO the MDI is a bit of a waste of money considering the initial cost and the fact you need to spend half the cost of an iPod just for the interface cable.

If you want to charge an iPod a simple cigarette lighter charger will do the job for next to nothing. If you want additional music you can buy about 100Gb worth of SD cards for the cost of the MDI plus cable and you get exactly the same user interface on the Bolero with the SD cards that you get with the MDI.

iPods must be cheap in the Southern Hemisphere, the cable is £15-20 from the dealer, cheaper on ebay...

Didn't realise it couldn't control the iPod though, decided against it as I figured with bluetooth streaming from the iPhone (via the non-factory bluetooth I had fitted), an SD card reader and 6 CDs full of MP3 I didn't really need any more music sources :)

Did you have a problem with Simpsons ?

That is where I will be heading in a couple of hours or so.

As for colour.......race blue, unless they will paint the wheels black for nothing..in which case white may work as more affordable

In my RS auto lights and auto wipers works perfectly.

Especially in winter.

The xenon are great .
