what MPG do you get

Featured Replies

ok guys an gurls, what does your felicia get to the gallon on average, the missus's felicia 1.3 mpi is apperantly returning 29mpg at the mo but thats mostly very short runs1-2 miles and thru town etc, it has 1 good 60 mile round trip on A49 every sat

My idiot sons "S" plate GLi Estate was returning 40-45 mpg before he wrapped it around a HGV trailer on Saturday, 90% urban driving through Wolverhampton to South Staffs College from Kingswinford. While he was learning to drive, and I was driving it cross country to pick him up, it was doing 48-50 mpg.

To be fair, the engine was barely run in, having only done 52K from new.

BTW. Does anyone know when Skoda stopped calling the Estate a "Combi" ?? The replacement "P" plate has "Combi" on the back, but the "S" plate doesn't.

i'm getting about 42mpg from my valver, but if you give it beans all the time it goes down to about 15mpg

steady long distance within speed limits: 48 or so.

Last fillup after daily commuting, 10 miles mixed country/city, cold starts and studded winter tyres: 38

About 35 from my recce car, depending on abuse.

38mpg in a Favorit 1.3i. My previous Favorit 1.3 carburettor use to give me 38mpg, and before that a succession of Estelles gave me.... 38mpg. Which definitely seems to support the theory that fuel consumption has a lot to do with driving style!

My Felicia 1.6 did return about 34/35 average till the big freeze up then it dropped to about 25 which I kind of expected but has only improved to 27/29 now that things have warmed up a bit. I'm not a happy bunny!!

Did you lower your tyre pressures?? And if so, have you pumped them back up??

1995 1.3L,during this last month I have had 37,38 and 44mpg.

In the summer it often returns 50+

And of course a lot depends on how much Ive booted it :)

I am sure I couldnt afford to run a 1.6L,Im a pensioner :dull:

Well Jimbo, my old MPI Felicia used to return 44mpg when driving it quite enthusiastically and 48mpg when being very carefully with my right foot.

is that all mr ken i would have thought by the time you had taken everything out that could be removed (and some) it would have done at least 60mpg

Tyre pressures are fine, the thermostat seems to be working ok and the air filter is fairly recent. I'm thinking it's something wrong with the ECU r some other engine management problem.

Actually, in search of MPG, I'd have expected something like what's been done to this car from Ken!

My 1.3 mpi seems to be returning less than 30 to the gallon. All I know I put in £10 and the light comes on after 60 miles. I have done this a few times now and always same.

I would have though that a car such as this would be easily achieving much more, otherwise i might as well keep driving my 2 litre Scenic , which returns about 38mpg!

Even the lower tax cost of a 1.3 is easily outweighed by the increase in fuel bills.

The Skoda is still not running right though, so i expect this to improve........? :S

I recently replaced the stat and housing, so would this make a difference somehow?

running with a duff stat will cause the engine to use more fuel as it will always assume its cold and keep chucking the juice in to compensate. i get 35-45 on mine now after changing the stat, but was drinking it beforehand.

i do round about 30 miles a day, 15 of which are usually flat out (do they do more than 85?) on the dual carriageway to and from work.

My R-reg 1.9 D gives a consistent 49mpg. I'm a happy bunny since I have a lead-filled size 13.

I wish. I do about 20 miles a day on b roads, but hardly any stopping. Changing the stat has made no difference to mpg and the engine is still lumpy when cold, not much better when warmed up.. :(

What do your spark plugs look like?

What do your spark plugs look like?

I checked them the other week and thought they seemed OK. They were clean, the nose lightly brown in colour. Looked in the haynes book and read that this was a good condition plug/engine. Will check them again tomorrow, bit dark now.

They had Brisk printed on them, which was weird, but I googled to find they are a plug manufacturer.

mines not been doing so well lately, the highland winter and a couple of over eager deer have taken some toll on the old gal.

never really watched the miles/litres of fuel used but did do inverness to ipswich and back with some town driving and detours in for good measure ~1247 miles covered on around 2.5 tanks of fuel if i remember correctly.

amd now even if i did wanna take note of it, my odeometer has died..... 87,000 miles for the rest of her life :)

I have a 97 plated, mk 1 felly 1.3mpi gli 50kw.

0-60 in 12.5-13 seconds

top speed ov around 110mph

fuel consumption of around 32.....................

i find the higher the revs help the consumption not screaming but moving, the hills round here can seriously damage my pocket with fuel costs keep them slightly revved and u should get more mpg!
