Challenge: How much can you get in a Yeti boot?

Featured Replies

To all those snap happy Yetians (Plumber, Aerofurb etc): Please could you assure those still awaiting their Yetis that the boot is adequate by taking some photos of what you can get in the boot under the parcel shelf? Perhaps one of the Skoda sponsors (James??!) could give a free Yeti toy/keyring to the photographer showing the best picture of the loaded/unloaded boot? It certainly has raised some 'discussion' :giggle: so it would be interesting to see how much you can hide away in suitcase/bag terms.

Standby - Loading up on Saturday for the trek south.

No trick photography or video! Unless it is very entertaining. :giggle: and no :punch: or :swear:

Top Gear seemed up for the challenge!

"six persons' worth of camping gear....., including a generator and a couple of cool boxes, not to mention numerous tents and sleeping bags and bits of gear." (Top Gear Magazine)

Well it's a starter for 10!

Good one!

Great thread idea!

Pics a must ofcourse...... B)

No pictures, sorry, but I discovered today that the Yeti boot can take a full set of golf clubs without having to fold the back seats down flat. Brilliant.

Okay, always one to try and be helpful here's a couple of pictures to start the ball rolling....

Firstly, in answer to the 'how big is your boot', 'how does a spare wheel fit in', 'can the spare wheel fit in vertically' etc etc questions, here's my SM with a mystery tyre in it. Futhering Charlie's splendid competition idea - free drink on me at the first SMOC meet to anyone that can guess what the wheel is off. Handy hint is that it's a Dunlop tyre and the size is: 31 x 10.75 - 14 and 20 ply....

Second one would be more suited to one of those oh-so-common red Yetii but might extinguish the 'how big is the boot' argument once and for all....

I would like you to fill the Mazda + roof box to the same degree and see how much stuff that is :o

As much as I like the Yeti and the wife likes 4x4s I just don't think the Yeti is going to be big enough when we have another child. :(

Not unless, in time, they do a 7 seater...

My effort is very mundane after aero's but a typical weekend provisions run for the TP household.

Note: 322ltrs with the spare option :)

You probably aught to be looking at the next size up in 4x4 vehicles. I suggest that you try, Audi Q5, BMW X3, Volvo XC60. These are the next size up 4x4 crossover type vehicles after that the next size up, would be, Audi Q7, BMW X5, Volvo XC90 etc. After that your into the full size and proper 4x4 vehicles Landrover Discovery and Toyota Landcruiser sort of thing or even a Landrover Defender 110. The latest version of the Defender 110 with 2.4 puma engine and new interior, seats, air-conditioning, ABS traction control, heated windows etc, is such an improvement over earlier versions.

Good luck wit your search for a suitable vehicle!

I like the Yeti because it is cheap! BMWs? Audis? Volvos? LRs

I wish

Back on topic, I've read compalints about the length of the Yeti restricting its capacity, but can you get a standard bath in the car (rear seats down, nothing funny with the fronts)?

It depends really, if you have one with regency taps and rolled edges it might be a bit of a squeeze, getting in and out might be the problem, then their is the hot and cold supply. Most just fit showers on expedition vehicles!

:p sorry I just cold not resist. :giggle:

That can't be possible?! Where do you put the kids?! By Easter we'll have 2 animals on the driveway - Yeti and Jaguar. My husband manage to get his laptop, briefcase and 2 tesco bags into the XK8 boot yesterday! I'm thinking about finding 2 smallish boxes that I can fill and the kids will put their feet on for the long holiday journey 2x a year. Is that what you do too?

Fpor long holiday journeys we often used to have a coolbox in one rear footwell and a bag of some sort in the other. That worked well when they were both in car seats as their feet are high enough up to not be affected by the luggage. Boxes would work well expecially if the lids were fairly solid so they wouldn't be damaged by feet.

Blimey O'Reilly, TP - that disn't take you long did it?!! emoticon-0104-surprised.gif

It is indeed a Concorde nosewheel. Our boss used to fly Concorde (and our flying club used to be the British Airways Flying Club until we parted company and went back to our original name of Airways Flying Club. Anyway, the boss heard that some Concorde bits were off to the scrappy so we have a Concorde nose, visor and a nosewheel.

One beer is owed! emoticon-0144-nod.gif
