Greatest hot hatches ever

Featured Replies

And where's the Lancia Delta Integrale? The more I look at that list, it's obviously been compiled by people under 30.

So they are making a MK2 Fabia vRS diesel? With the CR170 unit then? Where did you hear this great news?

Oh ffs.

The Ibzia FR is available to order with a 140-spec TDI CR. So it would be natural to assume the same engine to be available for the Fabia vRS at some point.

I know this. He said GTi D which is the CR170 unit. Furthermore, you shouldnt assume anything Babs... Skoda have realised TDi power, and gone petrol power with the vRS mk2... do you have a link to skoda saying they are bringing out a diesel!?

nope i just went to my dealer, i asked wether or not it was a diesel he said no... not to start with it should be a 170bhp petrol however there are plans to bring out a diesel later on after the spring/summer release of the petrol one. Again i asked weather or not it would probably be the one in the golf and he said yes it may well be, to keep the power from both engines the same apealing to more people, the details are very ropey at the mo so dont take it as gospel they are concentrating on the superb estate!

if they did use the 170bhp diesel i could see them tuning up the petrol

Nope, but I was bringing some facts into the equation, rather than merely wishing so, like lex ;)

So just to confirm you got told there would be a diesel vRS and possible for GTD engine from a dealers sales guy?

yes i have been tole there will be a diesel mk2 vrs at some point maybee with the GTD engine however there alot of engine they could use instead so dont get up your hopes....if you type in new fabia vrs on yahoo images there are a few teaser pics of what the mk2 will look like. Please dont take this as gospel it is sort of speculation but all the signs are there that there will be a diesel.

It wont look much like that, and it will have a petrol 150 DSG unit, and then a year or so later a 140CR diesel unit 6spd manual. But yeah...

They Seem to have placed the MkII and MkV Golfs above the MkI :dull: , clearly flawed, although it is a poll, is it the public or AE that have placed the votes?

I would have thought the Mk2 would be above the Mk2 and Mk5 just because its what started them off. I cannot see why the fabia should not be in that list it meets the demands of a hot hatch, affordable, cheapish to run and insure and lots of fun. If you are think Cosworth then you will be adding the likes of the Impreza and Evo, which are different from hot hatches.

the mk1 one the first, and is definatly a hard act to follow as an iconic car,but the mk2 16v raised the bar through the roof, and no golf has ever matched it  (tho i am a little biased)

Is the Honda Integra DC2 a hot hatch? As surely that should be there above the Civic's as apart from the NSX it pretty much started off the "Type R" fad?

Plus it still beats the pants off of all Civics today (Standard vs Standard) :-D

Is the Honda Integra DC2 a hot hatch?................

Nah. Definately not. ;)
