service cost

Featured Replies

Hi my skoda fabia 1.4 diesel 56 plate is due for the 60k service

I have had a quote of £375 plus vat with cambelt

I also asked about the water pump thingy being changed to metal and they said it would be an extra £50 but it was not recomended by skoda?

this was at my local garage(not a skoda garage)

I would like to know if this is a good price? does the cambelt need doing at 60k?

and should I just ask for a standard water pump/ propeller or what ever it is :)

Thanks

Thats not great, as a rough guide we would do all that work inc the water pump for around £350, thats using genuine skoda parts too !

I got a quote from my Skoda dealer for a 20, 000 mile service............... £317 It's safe to say i was shocked!!

My 20k service & Inspection was about £240ish

Like Ally says, the price you were given is A LITTLE steep, but not outrageous. The thing with the pump impeller was that the problem was on a different engine with an older version of the impeller, and is virtually unheard-of nowadays...

Save yourself the £50, the water pump is fine, like apOgee says, the pump fault was on a different engine to yours.

I'm on 94k and the original pump.

Some people worry too much about it and if it were a problem, Skoda would recommend it be changed with the cam belt.

So far as I know, yes, the belt has to be done at 60k or 4 years, whichever is sooner.

Mine was only about £180ish and included brake fluid change.:smirk:

Just booked her in at Star Performance in Kirkcaldy. £120 ish with the usual oil, filter, air filter and a brake fluid change. Got the car mapped by them 2 months agos and was well chuffed with the service. Great guys highly reccomended!

A friend of mine now services my Fabia vrs and he's just done a 4 year service for me.

New air filter, new fuel filter, new pollen filter, new oil filter, complete with new PD oil in the engine, adjusted all the brakes, fitted the hand brake springs and a good lub all round, Book stamped, all using genuine skoda parts £148 all in.

Just shows how much the dealers make.

( PS:-- Brake fluid changed when i had my new discs and pads fitted a few months ago.)

You've settled my mind with that comment.

My vRS is booked in for it's 4 year/40k service next week and is having the cambelt changed but the dealers said they would only be checking the water pump as the cars only done 36k and that the pump should be fine anyway. Was a bit worried about that but it seems ok now i've read this post.

Cheers

Dave.
