Wurth German Alloy Wheel Silver good match?

Featured Replies

Hi All,

Yesterday like a fool a kerbed my passenger side alloy on my baby, it's not dented - just 3 nice 2-3cm long marks on them - I'm on 16" Vega wheels.

Upon reading up on the net, if I diy and get a can Wurth German Alloy Silver Wheel Lacquer and Wurth High Gloss Clear Lacquer for the top up will it look ok on the Skoda? Or would I be better finding some company to do it?

Has any one DIYed a light wheel repair? Worth doing?

James.

Um..................... i think someone better call social services.............

;)

On a serious note though..... on an older car i might have been tempted to a DIY job. But with my nice new one i leave it to the professionals.

Ok after much calling around best deal but some one half decent was £51+vat, the place the local VW dealer uses and had a whole lot there cars in, even unreged ones (bet would-be owners don't know).... The place Skoda and Seat dealers use for bodywork is £110+vat!

Anyway this guy seemed to know his VAG cars. He said take the wheel off, put spare on, paint etc and then 2 days all done. What does any one think, fair price or ott? After much thinking about DIYing, I am bound to ****-up the paint job plus going to cost £25 for paints so for another £30 or so to get the job done right with year warrantee.

The next option was to mess around with spare, swop the alloy, or spare on and 1 new tyre, scratched in as spare; tyres have have 4.5mm of tread left in them. But I think what if this happens in 3 years time and I crack the wheel (hope not) then you no where to move and a new alloy which i may not be able to get as Skoda "no longer make"

I used to just use bog basic alloy wheel paint (applied with a fine brush) if ever I slightly rashed the edge of the rim. Sanded it down with some semi-rough wet & dry and then applied. Never bothered with lacquer but for just kerbing marks, it was always a great improvement until the inevitable happened and a proper refurb was needed (£45 + vat near me)

Hear is two pics of damage:

More difficult to sand down in those areas. The tip of a file might work better, but long term a refurb will be needed.

Think I might pay local repair man cash to do it then!

have a look at this site it has cheaper alloy repair kits and touch up pens
