Etka Cd-rom

Featured Replies

Just took delivery of my ETKA CD from a bloke on E-Bay,

No more queing at the dealership to be told a part does not exist for me !!

On first look it seems very useful for sourcing parts that Skoda UK say are not available. (Like a roof mounted ariel that does Radio, GSM & GPS).

:D

What model year does yours go up to? The one I have access to only covers the Octava and Felicia to MY 2000, and doesn't include the dreaded coil packs - at least not that I could find.

Denis,

It lists up to 2004 !! (inc Superb) althoug the data I guess will be the 2003 data just not updated yet. (Unless no changes are planned).

i thought you had to have some sort of licence to run etka?

Umm err,

It was not me, It was the other 3 !!

In that case I will obviously destroy my copy & report the matter to the anti-piracy police !!

Back to queing at the dealers !!

lol i take it that you have a way around this my one at work won't work unless it has a "dongle" (dont ask me some sort of licence) plugged in the back of it.

A dongle is just a small device that plugs into one of the ports in the back of your computer,

and is also one of the most amusing words in the industry.

So I guess the software checks to see if this device is present and if it isn't will prevent you

from continuing. I'd imagine there would be workarounds though... ;)

Question is would Skoda jump on us if the parts list appeared in a usefull format, searchable by all, now to me thats sensible...no prices etc listed, more as a R&D tool...hypothetically of course.

I would be surprised if Skoda UK didn't object since the contents of ETKA are subject to copyright (and are protected from unauthorised viewing by a dongle). I believe the situation in the USA is cimpletely different and that manufacturers who sell there have to make parts and service information available to the public.

I think Denis is right...however, is there any harm in asking? :D

The problem I see with this is what Skoda is gonna ask:

Where did you get that from ??

Erm Urrr .............. from a man in a Pub you're Honour !!

  • Administrators

Well we are technically hosted in the USA as such come under US Laws, eg, coppa.

Could I take advantage and ask the part number of this:

OC10181.jpg

I would love to get one og these, but my dealer's never heard of it :(

No Problem Otheos,

The part Number you need is 1U0 857 465 B Spectacles Holder.

It comes in a choice of 2 Colours 47H ONYX or 1SQ BEIGE

You will need 2 Torx Socket Screws N 906 986 03 to hold it in place.

If the dealer cannot find it in ETKA it is under Main Group = 8, Sub Group 63, Illustration 863-60, Parts 81 & 6.

Awesome, Graham! And the fitting time is?

PS Do I get a whiff of a career change in the wind? :D

  • Author

Career Change, Nah !

Fitting time depends upon flights to Greece !!

Graham

Hehe, thank you very much! Hopefully I'll manage to get hold of it now. Sunglasses are a necessity here in GR especially in summer time :)

Thanks again :)

Gps aerial would be useful, oh and if I give you a part number would you be able give me a description?
