Felicia airbag warning light

Featured Replies

Hi everyone.

I think this is my first posting on here after reading and taking in all the info over the last few months.

Today I decided that I could no longer live with the steering wheel 15deg out when in a straight line.

So after lots of trial and error I got it right.

However it looks like the airbag ecu was not happy about me running engine with airbag disconnected, warning light won't go off!

Any quick fixes or do I need to go to a Skoda VAG garage to get it reset. or get a used one from scrapyard?

Car is a 1998 1.9 diesel Felicia.

Take the battery off for an hour?

no it will not reset it needs vagcom or similar to do it

yeh, just delete the fault codes from the airbag module and the warning light should go out, unless of course you bust the slip ring when you were messing with the steering wheel

All done ,mate has a VAGCOM and cleared the codes in a flash!

Thanks for all your help.

I looked at this thread, as I have done something very similar. The damaging the slip ring comment seems to ring a bell, there was a bit of a click when I reassembled mine and I'm wondering if I broke something? Is there any way to check, other than taking it all apart again?

there's not a lot you can do with them once they are gone broke, but luckily they are pretty cheap to buy from the skoda dealer, around £17 if I recall.

Thanks for the info but it wasn't the slip ring. I changed the steering wheel and airbag, but light still comes back on after it has done it's self check. I think where I goofed was that I turned the ignition on while the airbag was still disconnected. Looks like I'm going to have to go to a dealer to get it reset.
