Featured Replies

Pale grey Superb Combi seen in Darlington on the road . It and I were moving but looked very impressive. Was road registered NV59 something, like my VRS, so probably from same dealer MSB Skoda. Can I claim a first?

I seen one in Phoenix Motors (Ireland) yesterday, it was a CR170 Elegance manual in the new amathyst purple colour. I was told it was the Skoda Ireland press car. Pictures do not do it justice !!!

WOW, I saw one almost 2 weeks ago....I must be the luckiest man in the planet ! :giggle:

I had a quick look over one today, the electric tailgate is a nice touch. Push a button and the tailgate closes without you getting your hands dirty.

Sorry for the hijack and thread bump, but Jerry Collins Mottors in Cork has one in Ambition spec. I had a look around it yesterday, and loved it!

Is the electric tailgate standard or an extra?

I am not sure if the electric tailgate was an extra TBH, the dealer had just got it in. It was the elegance spec and looked very nice though.

Looking at the ambition above, it seems odd looking at it with those small alloys.

Electric tailgate is an extra, and costs around €500

Worth EVERY penny if you can do it from the key! GUCCI! :D

Thats an Irish Ambition spec, me thinks the UK Ambition ( SE ) sits on 17" wheels.

In Finnish Elegance spec models it is included.

The Irish ambition level, comes with spectrum alloy wheels 7.0J X 16", with 205/55 R16 tyres, as standard, the elegance spec comes with Venus alloy wheels 7.0J X 17" , with 225/45 R17 tyres.

Sadly in ireland it is the unfair VRT, which causes some items to be left out of "standard equiptment", as all items that are "standard", on a model, attracts VRT, and as a result, will increase the starting price of that level of car, as the VAT, is also increased. However items which are added on by the customer, as factory fit ( special orders), prior to delivery, do not attract VRT, only Vat.

I think VRT is included in the price of customer options. The price of one particular option can vary across the models ( different VRT bands )

I was under the impression that the difference in price for the same options but on different trim levels, was down to, what the manafacturer, thought they could charge, as in the past with rover, a higher level car, had a lower price for an option (e.g.sunroof),as if your car had climate control, you were less likely to purchase this option, than a lower spec model, however I could be wrong.

the fact remains that VRT is still the big problem to cars in Ireland, having in some cases a poorer spec, than other european countries, as it adds to the price that a customer pays for his / her car,

If VRT were removed tomorrow, we could all jump a grade in the type of car we purchase, for the current price, or we could make some considerable savings.
