Do skoda accessories need to be coded?

Featured Replies

I have a Volvo V70 18 months old at the moment and can not add anything electronic because all things such as an ipod lead etc need to be coded to the car for them to work does the Superb have a similar system or is it just plug it in and away you go. Also with the Volvo you can not change components such as electric window switches for the same reason. I have never had this before. In fact I would have bought a Skoda last year its just I couldn't get an estate. Also because of the horrendous servicing costs of the Volvo I am beginning to regret my decision! Also does anyone know can you retrofit the wood trim into the Superb. I really like the wood trim option yet most secondhand ones seem to have the silver trim. Thanks.

it depends on what you want to add really, although you wouldnt need to go to a dealer to code the item in as you can DIY it with VCDS software on your laptop.

An IPOD lead or MDI added to the columbus generally just work, but something like cruise control or multi function steering wheel would need coding.

As above if you add something new to the car then it will more than likely need activating with VCDS, however when you simply replace like for like then it will just be plug and play.

The wood trim is available and is pretty straight forward to swap, but it's very expensive to buy from the dealers.
