Recommend me a kiddie seat

Foo,thanks for the post.

Thanks for the offer of looking at the seat but unfortunately I am in Lincolnshire so not that local.

Depends - if it's a three point belt then yes potentially provided it fits OK. I have done it in the past for short journeys and with my parent-in-law's Civic and Laguna but we always found that the shape of the middle seat meant they needed some additional support underneath from something and were never as solid as in the outer position.

Cheers of that. I'll look into this once the Octavia arrives.

We have a Maxi-Cosi Priorifix which switches between my wife's Grand Scenic and my Octavia. We've been very happy with it, especially as we got a good deal from Boots for it.

Britax Duo Plus ISOFIX Car Seat - We bought this and has withstood everything. Easy to fit and remove.

Can't go wrong

+1

The big plus on an ISOFIX seat is that it is nearly impossible to fit wrongly.

We use the Maxi Cosi Priori XP. Got it for a good price via Halfords online who were doing a special offer on it, though that was a couple of years ago now. It fits really securely in the Octavia and we've had no problems with it. Reclining action is useful. Quick to install and transfer to other cars, once you've learnt how to do it once, it's a quick job to do again.

Removing and replacing the cover isn't the easiest job in the world though - we needed to wash this after a major vomit session and it's a bit of a fiddle to get off and put back on again.

We were put off the Tobi due to a number of negative reviews on the internet.

A very good seat, we have this also. Best-in-test for this kind of seat (FW-facing) i norwegian consumer test.

Another seat tha I find that fits OctyII even better (with almost same score) is Britax Safefix Plus

Another vote for maxi-cosi, but this time the axiss. It swivels 90 degrees so you can 'load' and 'unload' with the nipper facing you. Our daughter was also a small 14 months when we put her in it but is adjusts well to suit. Only downside is that the straps are not as clever as the tobi. But it is great if you have a bad back or are short of room between the back and front seats.

We have the Axiss - big thumbs up from us, mainly as my wife suffers back problems and it really helps not having to contort yourself loading the wee 'un into her seat! :)

i can recommend two seats , the maxi cosi tobi and the maxi cosi prioi xp.

i bought the tobi for my old vectra because it had long straps before the buckle and it was the seat that fitted the car best and was most secure. the priori didnt fit the vectra because when fitted the seat belt pulled sideways on the buckle rather than straight out therefore it wasnt safe, hence why i had the tobi, it has a deep base so it pulled on the buckle straight.

it is now fitted to the octavia and fits very well, but not as secure as the priori.

ive had no problems with the tobi my son sits high in the seat so can see easily out of the window the straps pull out easy and spring up so he doesnt get caught out when lifting him out. the only problem i have with the tobi is the imprints it leaves in the seat. i have bought a seat protector that goes on the seat to help stop this and couldnt recommend one enough, mine came from mothercare but halfords also sell them.

right the priori is in my wifes golf gti , and it fits very well and when fitted properly it doesnt move at all it also fits the octavia very well too. we have had no problems with this seat either, the straps come out easy as well.

i had both seats fitted by a local shop, he showed me how to fit them and also he recommended me which seats fitted my car the best.

when fitting the seats he pushed them into the car as hard as he could and pulled the belt through as tight as he could then fastened the clips, then he pulled the baby straps in the seat tight and pulled towards him , they didnt move.

he said a lot of seats arent fitted properly for this reason.

i would buy the priori if i had to buy again for my octy, but get the seat fitted properly by a trained fitter and get a seat protector to keep your seats in good condition.

forgot to say the tobi is the versatile and fits all my familys cars!

just one final thought - my maxi cosi priorifix (isofix) LOOKS great in the car, in that its black and silver, so pretty much matches the vrs interior trim :)
