Got a 2nd hand SEAT strut brace recently courtesy of a fellow brisky member

for a knock down price. Thanks again Matt!! :)

It was painted silver to match the car it was originally on

and had started to crack in places and you could see a few red bits. I took it to a local one man band powder coaters

where he blasted it back to bare metal and transformed it into this green meanie for the princely sum of £25.

The pics are a bit bright and the green is a richer shade in real life.

The quality of finish is excellent. It looks brand new!!

Finished offf with a sticker from the vinyl store carefully applied.

I'm fitting it on Saturday. Can't wait to see it on the car.

As always your comments welcomed.

Very nice, I always thought a green one would look good under my bonnet... :)

I see you're in Kent. This guy is in Rayleigh Essex.

Not a huge mission for you to get to.

£25 all in!!!

Elsewhere I was quoted £60 just for the coating, Plus

another guy would sand/shot blast it first for another £25!

Screw that for a game of soldiers..

I'll post a link to his site when I figure out how to.

Give me a few minutes. I'll get it up here.

I'm having my wheels done there next.

Am delighted with his work!!

Here's the link to the guys site.

A very friendly chap called Gary (sounds familiar...)

is the gaffer there. He had my brace for a week but at that price I didn't mind waiting.

I'm probably obliged to point out that this company is in no way affiliated with or endorsed by briskoda

and is purely a personal recommendation by myself based upon my dealings with them.

Any undertakings you have with this company are at your own risk. Briskoda will not be held responsible forr

any losses or damages incurred etc etc

But I think they're good :)

Very nice! Need to re-do mine at some point over the summer, and I think a sticker like that would be good.

Very nice indeed I must purchase one for mine at some point.

Loving the sticker alot... where abouts can I get one from???

Cheers

Okay...

When was one of you going to tell me I had put the sticker on the wrong side.

Anyway, have removed it and ordered a replacement. DOH!

It was stuck down very well so am glad I went with the powder coat rather than paint.

Fresh paint would have almost certainly peeled when I took it off. It cleaned up like new again afterwards.

Here's a pic of it fitted minus the sticker. I used plenty of copper slip as per orders from Scotland.

Thanks for that tip Mike, made life a lot easier... I think it looks grand but can't wait to re-sticker it.

Looks really good. I need to get round to sorting one of these for my car!

Been to meet Gary, my powder coater today.

I have only spoken to him on the phone till now because the missus did all the running

around dropping off and picking up my brace. He is a smashing bloke and we decided

what colour and finish we'd be doing my wheels in. I'm gong for a black gloss finish with tiny

sparkles. Looked mega on his sample. He wants £150 to do the set. Bargain I say.

You'd do well to get a set refurbed and painted for that sort of bread. He also uses a courier

service so distance shouldn't be an issue if people from far away want to use him.

If anybody does use him just mention Garry with the black Skoda and he'll see you right. :)

Strut brace looks real good mate.

I defo need to get hold of one.

Looking smart B)

I left mine red as my car isn't a vRS, think I'll re-paint the calipers to match. I went for the same sticker mind you :)

Okay.... I got my replacement sticker in the post today so without any further ado.

Voila.... The finished article.

Much harder applying the sticker with the brace actually fitted I found.

At least it's on the right side now

Hope you likey likey.

Garry

Nice. Quality looks good. Colour looks a bit more 'kermit' Ford RS green, than Skoda green though? Or is that just the reproduction in the photos?

Thanks Steve, you're right its not the correct shade LOL

Before I embarked upon this ittle mod, I consulted the RAL colourchart and decided that "signal" green (RAL 6032)

was the closest shade to skoda green. Gary my powder coater could have got that colour in for me for an additional £20.

As mentioned before, the guy only charged me £25 all in and a slight change in colour would have effectively doubled the

cost. This green is Kawasaki green. Garys main source of business is the motorcycle modding brigade.

So he always has this shade of green in stock, and since thie brace is hidden 99.9% of the time I thought that would do.

I quite like the fact that it's a bit on the vivid side. Heres a link to a RAL colourchart if anybody is interested.

http://www.e-paint.co.uk/RAL_Colourchart.asp I hope it's useful to somebody.

Thanks for your kind comments.

Nice. Nah, that makes sense and certainly makes it stand out :)

Thought the colour reminded me of something else - and that's it - NINJA! :D
