onboard computer

Featured Replies

Hi everybody!

I have just bought a used Roomster 3 1.9tdi (reg. 58)…and I am already struggling with modern technology.

I have a problem with the “trip computer†or with my inability to use it.

According to the owner’s manual, there are 2 memories that can be switched using the “B†button. This button is missing on the grip of my wiper lever. I assume that my car is equipped with only one memory, right? Or is there another way to switch between memories?

The computer is always set on “memory 2â€but ‘driving time’ and ‘distance driven’ do not move from 0 (zero) and ‘average fuel consumption’ is not displayed. Basically, the only info I can get is ‘current fuel consumption’ and ‘range’ to refuelling. That’s it.

Is it “normal Any advice?

Thanks for help!

The button is on the lower edge of the wiper stalk, simply press it to switch between memories or hold it pressed to reset the currently selected memory. To switch between the different options use the rocker switch on the end of the wiper stalk.

The button is not present. There is just a hole, or better a ‘depression’ where the button is supposed to be but it can’t be pressed…

Id be tempted to get it back to the dealer then. Looks your button has become depressed and no amount of anti depressants are going to help it .

You should be able to run your thumb over it , and you can feel it.

Its probably the only bit on my car that works :giggle:

Yes, thank you, it make a lot of sense. The button is stuck!

Any advice on how to open the wiper lever ... without causing too much damage?

I really would take it back to the dealer. It should be under warrenty ?

It's still under skoda warranty, but the dealer is 150 miles away! Well...let's start with a phone call and/or email to the dealer before plunging into depression...not the button depression. Thanks again, anyway!

As its a warranty fix any dealer will do... you show your location as Norwich, I'm sure there will be one in or near there!

Does the skoda warranty cover this kind of problems? I mean...if the previous owner (or the dealer) pressed the button with gorilla force, is it really Skoda's fault?

Anyway, it looks like a minor mechanical problem everybody can fix...finger crossed.

Cheers!

Just say it went in and wouldn't come back out... I can't see why it wouldn't be covered!

Those multi switchgear stalks aren't cheap, so I'd try the warranty route first.
