Oil Colour...?

Featured Replies

Hadn't checked my oil for ages, and what with hte stories of the PD130 using it by the bucket load for the first few thousand miles I thought I'd better have a look....

Well, the level seemed fine (mid way between the bobbly bit on the end of the stick) but the colour was very black....is this normal, especially for a car that has only done 5000 miles? I was half expecting it to still be pretty "golden" in colour!! Or is this a by-product of diesel ownership?

Even after 15,000 miles my old corsa's oil was still a little brown!

So have I got a problem, or am I normal....??

Thanks in advance

Quite normal Tug. Just keep checking the level though.

It's normal for a diesel and indicates that the oil is doing its job.

Memo to self: Must learn to type faster...:o
