Must be the most boring race for many years. An eye opener is to watch the BBC highlights of races from a few years ago when there was overtaking all the time, and one car could follow another nose to tail in a way that's absolutely impossible now.

They really need to get rid of a lot of the aerodynamics that are ruining the racing now.

What is also obvious is that safety has improved dramatically when you see spectators and marshals with no protective clothing standing right on the track side.

Well, the second race of the season was much better than the first, but mainly due to the weather at the start. So should the FIA install a sprinkler system at each track that can be used at varying times to force tyre changes and upset team strategies?

you cant say that was purly down to the weather, granted that first lap was entertaining but they were on slicks from about ten laps onwards, and there was plenty of overtaking to be had.

felt bad for lews today he drove his ass off today. well into jenson as well. vettel; must be gutted now, twice he has been comfortably out in front and has had a mechanical failure. alonso was on form today as well, shame massa was slowing him up, as i reckon he would have been right on the back of kubica much earlier.

if the races can stay like that the season will be good

Something this race showed me is Vettel, Alonso and Hamilton are the class of the field. And Kubica is wasted in a poor car as usual. tbh I think he is the fastest out there.

Well done to Button tho, I expected LH to blow him into the weeds but he more than got the better of him this weekend.

Im not to sympathetic to Lewis tho, he drove well but the complaining about tires was pretty bad. To that point I was feeling sorry for him for the Road car episode.

Well, I think it was partly the wet, partly the uncertainty, partly the "green" track, and partly the fact that the track isn't another Tilkedrome! Has anyone actually seen an F1 race at a Tilkedrome that lived up to the ones at natural circuits?

OTOH Schumi thinks it is impossible to overtake in these cars unless the man you're trying to overtake makes a mistake.

And which race classes have you won a class, never mind a race outright or a championship, in then?

They seemed to be able to follow each other closer this time. Close enough to slipstream the car in front then pull out to overtake. I can't work out what was so different.

lewis and jenson have both said they are optimistic of gould results, but thats not the most confident ive heard them before, so who knows, kubica reckons the circuit isnt the best one for the renaul team,

I dont think being a **** and a world championship winner are mutually exclusive, apart from in Babs' case where he isnt world champion.

It seems obvious to me how to improve it - remove all the wings etc that create down force. Quicker cars in a straight line, much slower round corners allowing good drivers to squeeze through on braking if they can't pass in a straight line. One set of tyres for practice, qualifying and racing.

Yeah; the point was rather that I'd trust the judgement of a **** (even if I thought Schumi was one) who is 7x World Champion (plus a load of lower formula credits too) over that of someone who isn't on this sort of matter!

Not even that necessarily; IMO the real issue is that the brakes on race cars are too good. An F1 car can stop from 200mph in about the space a road car needs from 70.

and who was it said that there wouldn't be any overtaking from pitstops ?

Or we could put them all in NASCAR's??

F1 is F1, it never has been about 50 overtakes per lap.

It goes beyond being a fixed or artificial spectical.

Currently chomping on huge lumps of humble pie - F1 is definitely improving - in the wet at least.

The jury might be recalled when we get the first dry race :yes:

Well Hamilton has been proving that overtaking is possible...he has made some huge recoveries but still hasn't got his first victory of the season. He has already made 37 overtakes i read, while his team mate has only made seven but is in the ead of the championship

You can't do so much overtaking when you're in front, unless you start counting lapping back markers :giggle:

I don't ever remember overtaking into and out from the pits before though :rofl:

It looks like they might be about to agree on a new engine formulae :)

1.5 litre, twin turbo direct injection :) it will be like the old days, only faster. They might be bringing back Kers too (not that it ever really went away)

The only way KERS "went away" was that everyone agreed not to use it; it's still in the technical regulations.

The new Kers will be a homogenous design with the engine it would seem. Although the engine size may well be slightly bigger than the 1.5 I stated.

Interestingly enough, the current F1 engines produce about the same CO2/litre as a modern supermini. Someone reckoned it was about the same as a Fiesta 1.4! and they want to further improve on this. World gone mad :D Autocar said the entire F1 grid, over a race season, produces about the same CO2 as a Jumbo flying to Japan. Does that miean I should buy an F1 engined road car and save the planet? :D
