vRS replacement engine advice

Featured Replies

Hi,have got a skoda octavia vrs(02plate).Engine nackered apparently some drift wheel at the bottom of belts has sheared.Been told i now need new engine as less cost and hassle.Old engine has AUQ code.Have heard about a seat leon cupra 225bhp and wondered if this would fit straight in on existing gearbox and engine mounts?Would be gratefull for any other sugestions.Need to try and locate engine asap and have it fitted for sunday 7th feb at latest. :'( :( Lost without my car

Don't think it goes right in, or at least does not connect up with all parts correctly. Better off going like for like to be honest.

goes in but the wiring is the pig alot of work. ask trevor b he has just done it

PM to TrevorB33 might help with this problem.

I know where you can get a basic engine brand new for £1500.

I assume that the engine code is AUQ - not AJQ as in the ad.

the engines been sold anyway a few days ago

i wouldn't worry to much about the difference in the AUQ and the AUM engine type.

the AUQ in the vrs has a k03s turbo which produces a bit extra boost and a slight tune up to give the extra 30bhp.

the AUM engine has larger valves to give an increase in torque.

the both remap to the same 210 ish bhp just te boost response is different due to the turbo differences.

they are physically identical and will be a straight swap. ive just done mine myself.

I thought AUM & AUQ were identical, same internals, same turbo, just different map?

the vrs came with a k03s turbo where as the non vrs had just the k03 turbo.

the internals are all the same.

in that case i could be slightly wrong. they all map up to the same. so you could be right.

Fundermentally though. the engines are the same so you could put an AUM engine in place of the AUQ engine.
