Hello all,

We recently purchased an Octavia Elegance Manual 1.9tdi to replace our second car, a Ford Focus 1.6 Zetec.

Having considered an A4 (too dear), a 3-series (too dear and too small inside) and others for our 2+3 clan I opted for the Octavia for buget, space/comfort and economy/CO2. I'm not disappointed! From a small 1.9tdi 104bhp unit I get the required ooomph with economy (~50mpg) and in comfort (half-leather comfy seats, dual a/c etc.). It's a peach. Having said that the engine is a little noisy (even from memory to previous tdi units that I've had in Passat and Galaxy).

I find the road-holding excellent, esp. on country runs and it's a joy to drive. However it can be a little clunky for city driving (steering is a little heavy) and the 225/45 R17's don't like the potholes left from our recent cold spell!

Anyway, hoping to share some experiences and knowledge with you all here.
