Door leaks help! In Berkshire!

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I've got the old leaky door problem with my Fabia vRS. I was wondering if there was anyone in the Berkshire area who would be willing to help me fix it! I have recently moved down here temporarily and have no tools or equipment, and no idea on how to fix the problem.

I am willing to come to you to if you are willing to help me! I will bring the parts needed, and I am free on Friday afternoons and at the weekend. I am also willing to pay for somebodies time and effort, I'm not after a free fix, I just don't want to pay what I suspect will be dealers prices!!

Also, if anyone can recommend a local dealer or non dealer repair centre where I could get it fixed I would greatly appreciate it! I am based in the Wokingham/Bracknell area.

Thanks in advance for any help. If you can help then I will PM you to discuss locations etc.

Cheers,

Bezzy

It doesn't look like you're getting much interest!

Just do it yourself. I did it about 4 weeks ago and it was a couple of hours and no trouble at all.

Go to the dealers and get some clips. 20 is ample and you've got some spares if you need to do it again. Part No I have is 5J0867276 'Clip'. £6

Some kind of tool to get the clips out. I used a wallpaper scraper with an old shirt around it to stop it scratching.

Finally some silicone sealant and an applicator gun. All in you're looking at £10 for the sealant and a gun.

There are numerous guides and videos on how to do it. It's literally 2 hours work and saves whatever someone else will be charging!

The only difficulty is getting the card off the door, if you just give it a good wack with the scraper they should come out/snap!

I'm in Leicester, which may be a bit far, but you're welcome to come and borrow my tools and do it yourself on my driveway, I'll gladly watch & supervise

Thanks for the advice guys. I may give it a go myself, I'll just have to go out and buy the tools, or see if I can borrow them from somewhere. Doesn't sound like it'll cost me too much. Will have a scout round for video's and guides and what not! Thanks very much!

EDIT: are the clips £6 each, or £6 for 20?

5.88 for 20 it cost me.

Cost is minimal!

ah, lovely! Thanks Phil, I'll probably give it a go one weekend when I can get my hands on the stuff I need!!

Thanks for all your help,

Bezzy

Just make sure all the screws are out the door trim before you start forcing the trim off :-)

Think I've managed to get this fixed today! Hopefully the quick shower 5 mins after I'd finished won't have ruined all the hard work by a helpful person on this forum!!

Thanks for all the tips and advice from the guys on here. I will keep this updated :)

Keep your fingers crossed for me!!
