Going to buy this LCD tv has anybody got one/had problems with one ,have had a toshiba tv for 10 years now with no problems and this one comes in at my budget

not being funny but have you sat/stood there and watched LCD tv's?? i am yet to see one with a decent picture, maybe it's down to the rubbish in puts and they look super on DVI DVD players but so far i haven't seen one with a decent picture. rear projections are getting a lot better but if you want the screen on the wall then in my opinion it has to be either plasma or projector, for that money you could get a pretty damn good home projector(or one made for computers so have good clarity) or an entry level 42" plasma

LCD TV's are no good for watching action films or sport because of the pixel delay and refresh. Fast moving objects appear to blur. Far better going plasma at the moment and the price of plasma screens has fallen to acceptible levels.

Agree on the LCD comments.

At the mo plasmas are still too 'disposable' in nature to seriously consider.

waht do you mean by disposable andy?

I thought the 3-4 year life span was a load of rubbish. I asked a colleague about this the other day and he also said it was a load of tosh and he used to be in the electronic field. I was told it was a scare story Dixsons made up..

Maybe.

It's interesting to note that none of the staging companies use them as they are too delicate compared to LED screens and projectors

We have plasma screens at work and they are on about 80% of the day during the week and they don't seem to have any problems.

According to what I read the other day the current range of plasma screens now have a projected life of 15-20 years.

Manny, thats right, the plasma loses something chemically and rather than replace the plasma in the tele its cheaper to get a new one. Its not down to anything electronically, its a chemical problem :)

That's what I thought. It's also why they run so hot.

Yes I heard it was now 10 years but that seems to be the norm now.

TBH I probably wouldn't have the tele that long as within a few years there will be better technology out there for cheaper.
