Check the fuse holder on top of the battery, been some posts on here about it overheating and melting the plastic. And if you can have a look at the cable between the alternator and battery, if the connections at the alternator end look corroded or anything disconnect the cable and give it all a clean with a wire brush or similar. Have you tested the battery yet?

This thread should help

I think the problem lies in the connector on the end of the cable getting dirty and providing too much resistance so the cable overheats near the end. The whole cable should be replaced... and it looks in this case like the metal slot in the fusebox that the cable fits into too.

av took the cable off and sames to look ok....am picking the new parts up to morrow......could the alternator be the problum and caursed this...thanks

The black cable in the picture, the crimp is fooked, would need to be recrimped or fit new cable (which see youve ordered).Once this is fitted with new fuse box all should be well.

fitted new cable and fuse box seems to be ok at mo and its chargeing battrey.....but i have this code 18010 P1602 Power Supply (B+) Terminal 30 Low Voltage...and i need my stereo code.................thanks

That fault code just means the battery has been disconnected and re-connected. If you clear the code it won't come back. Worried me the first time I did it on mine I wondered what I'd done!!!

Can't help with the stereo code unfortunately, if you don't have it written in the stereo manual then a dealer might be able to look it up for you but they can charge 20 or 30 quid for it  . Once you've unlocked it, there's a setting on the stereo menu that you can choose so when it loses power it won't ask for a code to unlock it again.

if yours is a 2001 you shouldn't need the code if it is the original radio. there is a sequence that gets it to work by comparing the radio against the value stored on the ecu. I have done it before but cant remember the process. I will have a dig through my posts now.
