Elegance Thermisto Alloys

Anyone got any tips for maintaining these.

I noticed today whilst cleaning the car that they are polished rather than painted wheels, One of mine has signs of laquer peel on the thin outer edge, so looking for ideas on how you all manage to keep yours clean.

Best thing in the first instance would be to seal the damage with some clear lacquer froma touch up kit. Has the wheel been kerbed?. if so then it is down to you but if it has appeared by itself I reckon your dealer should have a look.

I sealed with FK1000p when I first got the car. So far the wheels still look new when washed, with no brake dust stuck anywhere.

No wheels have been kerbed (yet) after 9k, but I'm sure my missus will manage that sometime .......

Ihave on my current Car, a volvo S40, The polished "scotia" 17" alloys, they are all destroyed with peeling and bubbling laquer, I have NEVER kerbed them and the issue started about 6 months from new, when i asked in volvo about it when they looked their worst they said "thaey should have been replaced under warranty", What annoyed me about that is they only suggested that when it was out of warranty, not the 6 times they serviced it in warranty, if you start to get lifting laquer my advise is to flag it with the garage as soon as it starts

Hi,

I use Auto Glym custom wheel cleaner to keep my alloys clean - it's acid free so won't damage the alloys and cleans them a treat. I use their alloy wheel sealer afterwards which also helps protect the alloy.

Cheers

Toothbrush is essential alloy wheel cleaning kit

The best idea is to get a warranty claim as soon as the problem shows itself and not to wait till till the problem is really severe
