I am new to the forum and am looking at a facelift Skoda Octavia. As you all know at the moment Skoda are offering no VAT until the end of March on new cars, which makes a new car more attractive than a nearly new one. My question is can you use the government scrappage scheme and the no vat together??

According to the local dealers add in the paper the answer is NO

I bet some dealers can sort it for you

I asked this question to my local dealer the other day. The straight anwser is no. It's one or the other i'm afraid.

i'd guess you'd get something in between - effectively the govs contribution of £1k plus the VAT free deal - or something similar

Cheers for the replies... I had a feeling that it may be that answer. Looks like is nearly new then. I have seen a cracking good VRS diesel 59 plate on ebay. Trouble is its 16k which seems a little much for one with 5700 miles on the clock already?

Well, they're not a lot more brand new!
