Bye bye Furby

Featured Replies

Oh well, that’s it, after three years (well, 2 years and 51 weeks) and 47000 miles the vRS has gone.

The grin factor from this car has been fantastic, one of the biggest hoots I think I have ever had with a car, the best thing in the world to upset the average ‘boy racer’ with is a diesel Skoda!

I haven’t posted much on this site because I have had no need to, the car has done its job admirably since I got it, though in my time it needed a new rear screen because of it becoming disbonded around the edges but that’s nothing new, then (about two weeks after the rear screen, grrr) needing a new front due to the nice truck that fired a stone through the one that was there! It also needied a new set of glow plugs and relay because the relay decided to go into melt down one day but that was all covered under warranty so no problems, not a lot has gone wrong with the car, it was a pleasure to own, I just wish that Skoda had managed to bring something out that I fancied this time but there is nothing in the range that I warm to at the moment, but there is always the future.

As it is I was looking around at what to get next, was going to go for a Scirocco but went to the dealership and just felt like the salesman there was just not interested in selling me a car, I ended up walking out because the guy I was talking to was more interested in chatting to his other salesman mate about the weekend, in the end I got offered a deal that I could not turn down on a BMW 1 Series, I just had to do it, so yesterday I finally dropped of the Furby and picked up my 118d, in the end I got sucked into the £35 a year road tax, I just could not justify the extra money for the 120d.

Thanks a lot to all on this site for the information that’s available and the few South Wales meets that I attended, for those who haven’t met him Fatty is a star and the same can be said about Decron, cheers for some fun times at the pub.

I will still keep sticking my nose in here every so often to see if my car has appeared, be on the look out for a black 07 plate from South Wales.

Cheers all

Mike D

Oh, please see the image below, if you see some pillock in a white BMW waving at you then I have forgotten what car I’m in and still think I’m in the Fabia.

Also, yes, I did get the optional indicators fitted

Later :)

Best of luck with the new car :)

All the best, and keep us informed on your new purchase :)

Keep us all posted on the new car. I keep hinting to work that a 123d would make a good company car. I know, two chance: little and none.

Do you have any idea what the servicing costs will be?

BMW are doing a deal at the moment, £250 covers the first three services, the intervals are 20K between each one so that will cover all servicing through the time I own it (With any luck) because at the moment I’m doing 16K a year.

All this and £35 a year for road tax on the 118d, its all gravy :)

Now I can get an old Jeep Cherokee for the winter next year and get my ozone hole back up to size :D

Nice choice - enjoy it

About the same interior and boot space as the Fabia too :D
