The Novatech doesn't include the Windows operating system, that's another £90.

The Dell netbooks are actually pretty good, we use them at work for out of office workers.

Depending on what you want to do you might feel restricted by a netbook, no cd/dvd, low powered, bit slow etc etc.

A £300 laptop is going to be similarly poor.

Might be worth checking ebay for a second hand laptop.

Also have a look at Ebuyer, they can have some good deals.

If all you need is messenger and internet £300 might well be too much for a netbook.

Or if you have a good smartphone just buy a RedFly http://www.celiocorp.eu/store/

cool thanks, had a word with neo_vr and im going to go with a dell mini. on pcworld i can get an old one for £229 but if i go direct to dell i can get a new one for £229 which includes postage!!

I got an Asus eee pc 901 last week off Ebay for £117 - 1.6ghz Atom prcessor 16Gb Ram wireless etc. running full Windows XP and it has been fantastic so far for internet browsing, phot viewing, messengering and email....

Probably a good choice  - I've always sweared by Dell though I have no experience of the mini models. But if you intend to use it 'on the go' (away from AC socket) you should pout down the extra £40 and get the 6-cell battery!
