My 1st Detail

Featured Replies

Completed my 1st detail on Mon & Tue. Was working Sunday night so after a few hours sleep I got up and removed Wheels. On removal I found that the inside edges of my tyres were worn badly, this added another job to Tuesdays list ...get tyres replaced and alignment done first thing before I started polishing (Thanks keith.)

Anyway the first selection of photos in daylight shows the car after Clayed (I had planned before and after shots but time wasn't on my side.) The night photos were taken after Polished and Waxed. The other daylight pictures were taken the next day on Paddy's Day.

I cleaned the Arches with APC and a scrub of a brush.

APC on Brake Calipers, then used JetSeal & Finished with Collinite.

Wheels were cleaned with Wheel Brightner & Tardis, to be honest there was some stubborn Tar & Brakedust on inside of wheel so used some Holts Tar Remover and Wonder Wheels (a stronger mix of Wheel Brightner may have done the same thing.). Again I put JetSeal & Collinite on to finish them off.

Then onto the car, First I Snow Foamed and washed. I Clayed it, didn't bother with Tar removal as it was fairly clean (I done some work on it a few weeks ago). The Clay bar was a lot cleaner than I thought it would be. I then went at it with the Polisher & Menzerna, 1st Pass I used Menzerna Power Finish Polish P203s & Green Pad, 2nd Pass Menzerna Final Finish Polish P085RE & Black Pad. Then finished with Jetseal & Collinite. To be honest there wasn't to much correction required, just minor marks seen under light.

I don't envy the detailing guys on the site, there's a hugh amount of work involved in detailing a car, and to be honest mine wasn't bad (as can be seen from post claying photos). I reakon I spent about 13hrs...and that doesn't include the inside

Thanks for reading, and sorry for no before/after or 50:50 shots, 1) I didn't have time & 2) it's hard to set them up outside.

Cracking work there - that car looks mint!

Looks really well, good work.

Looks well, a good first attempt. ...there appears to be some polish residue in the fuel flap aperture < constructive comment, not a criticism.

Some tyre/arch dressing would finish things off nicely. B)

Well done fella. I really do love the blue when polished up

Looking Good, Great work there ...

Shame to drive it & get it dirty :D

There probably is

Some tyre/arch dressing would finish things off nicely. B)

and yes it would,

But I would have been killed if I didn't finish up when I did. It was a real race to get finished....just got dark (6:30pm) and I don't have a garage, and SWMBO was home and we had to go to my parents for dinner. There's even some splatters of polish on windows etc (it's hard to keep it off especially when rushing). Maybe tomorrow I'll giove it a wash and going over, so should look well after that.
