passenger side

Drivers side

any one noticed this on their 2010 VRS?

just worried about it wearing the leather on the passenger side, should it be covered like on the drivers side?

It's normal.

I'm sire you could get a cover for it if you wanted.

I have leather covers with the vRS logo on them. They velcro up and wrap round the whole socket. eBay them.

Same on the Scout - if you look carefully you'll see that the drivers one also has a small cable inside the heatshrink sleeving for the switch within the socket. Therefore it would be a fair assumption that the sleeving is there to protect the cable not the seat.

Also, the drivers seat belt is always going to be used when the car is driven, but there may not alway be a passenger, so the drivers seat needs more protection.

But I'd put my money on the first of these....

I think the sleeving is there to protect the wire as well. as for causing wear on the leather, I would be suprised if that part of the seat was actually leather at all. Typically only the main facings are leather with the sides being simulated leather.

Thanks guys.

just wasn't sure if it was normal or not - wasn't like this on my golf.

but the comment about the seat belt switch wire makes sense to me! Didn't even occur to me!

This is a known problem (as far as we can speak of a problem). Only the drivers seatbelt is checked, not the co drivers seatbelt. Therefor no cable and no sleeve.
