It's Finally Arrived!

Featured Replies

Well after all the waiting our Yeti has finally arrived! We collected it from the dealer earlier - the Wife loves her new car and has already been showing it off to our friends (who are all very impressed).

It's a 1.2 SE - completely standard.

It's been a mixed day - the car's great but it hasn't been a good start to Skoda ownership.

After we'd signed all the paperwork and were handed the keys. I gave the car thorough inspection and noticed what looked like a line of dry polish on the front bumper above the number plate. It turned out to be a scratch. The dealer responded brilliantly and arranged to have the car sent to the bodyshop immediately and suggested we have lunch at a local pub on them. After lunch the car came back spotless. We drove off happy, if a little later than planned.

In addition the car mats hadn't been put in the car and the radio still needed the security code entered - so much for the PDI.

However when we got home I noticed the aerial was missing. I called the dealer and they said that it was unusual as it's part of the PDI (as is tuning the radio) and asked if I had checked in the boot (which I had), the service manager suggested it had been stolen!

I pointed out that the car had only been at the dealers, in their bodyshop and driven home. The service manager didn't know about the scratch either. He has agreed to send me a new aeriel in the post.

So a mixed start - but what a great little car.

What is the 1.2 engine like, is it to small for the car of this size?.

Enjoy! emoticon-0144-nod.gif

The engine is truely brilliant! Don't be put off by the CC or lack off, take one for a test drive. I was concerned too before I drove one.

As a comparison, I drive a 2.0 MX5 which produces 188NM of torque @ 5000rpm, the 1.2TSI produces 175NM between 1500-3000rpm!

Congratulations on the car, the wait will have been worth it.

The service manager might be right, the ariel's is there in the photos, presumably taken at the dealership, so maybe some thieving tike thought it would be fun to nick it off your nice new motor!!

Glad you finally got yours! How many weeks from ordering to delivery? Just asking as i have ordered a 2,0 TDi 110 bhp SE about 2 weeks ago.

Enjoy it!

Or it wasn't screwed in tight enough and it fell off on the way home.

We ordered it on the 2nd January. Delivery was a little delayed because the car was stuck in Germany for a bit.

Given the other issues that should have been part of the PDI this is my suspicion too. :(

Congrats and enjoy emoticon-0148-yes.gif

well done Missus Phooey!!

I think it is brilliant the way we ALL get so excited when someone takes delivery of their car. You can almost hear the collective rubbing of hands with glee, closely followed by the leap in the air and the air-punch of delight - and then the s-i-g-h from those of us who s-t-i-l-l wait patiently!

Chuffed to bits for you.

Well done on the car, great that you and Mrs HKphooey are enjoying it.

Big smile!

John

PS. After many years of high expectations, I find that a perfect collection is very rare indeed.

Congratulations HKPhooey!

I'm sure your good lady and you will love your Yeti  as much as all, (well most!) of us do

Have fun! :sun:

Best wishes

Lady Penelope

Keep the faith George

Won't be too long now?

Nice pictures to see as that's what I'm having, a 1.2 SE in Corrida red, although I'm having park assist on mine.

Disappointing you had problems with teh PDI/ collection though.

Congrats on your new addition. Now start polishing. Here comes a topic on the best polish.

No debate needed - AutoGlym Aqua Wax, so simple to use and it smells like Hubba Bubba. :)

Nice car there HK Phooey. I ordered my red 1.2 TSI one week after you and it was built last week. Don't think it'll be with me in another week thoughemoticon-0101-sadsmile.gif Anyway, I used to work at a VW dealership where it was necessary for us to remove all of the aerials from the display cars and keep them in a drawer in the showroom. Any left on a car overnight had always been taken by the morning. Regarding your PDI concerns, have you checked the service book to see if it was stamped and/or did you get a copy of the PDI checklist? If no to both of these then you are rightly concerned. Still, hope it all goes well. I'll be joining you on the Red SMOC list soon enough........

The service book has been stamped. I have no doubt the PDI was done, but given the scratched front bumper (which was the length of the number plate), the radio, aerial and mats - I'm not sure it was necessarily the most thorough inspection.

It's a brilliant car. We've just got back from a little PD (pointless drive). B)

The Wife says people have been staring all day. I noticed the same thing following her home yesterday on the motorway. The Yeti certainly attracts a lot of attention. :)

Wellcome from Italy!!!

Wellcome from Italy!!!

Thank you. And one of my favourite country's to visit! One day I'll own a vineyard there.

No doubt when the Wife gets her way and we out grow the Mazda, the Yeti will be going over the Alps.

Keep in touch for the future. Give me a call when you decide to visit Rome. We will make a tour with our Yeti together!

Bill - with Park Assist you'll have to park longways all the time, not side by side like in HKPs pictures! emoticon-0136-giggle.gif
