Understand centre rotory control pulls off to reveal bulb........tried pliers with soft jaws to no avail.......knob does not appear to me to be removable.Octavia Ambient 2004.Any ideas?.

Yep the centre dial will pull out - you may have to give it quite a tug (or turn it fully anticlockwise first IIRC). I did it on my sisters Seat Leon which is the same setup but don't remember having any trouble getting the dial face off.

Once you've got the dial out you either need a pair of needle nose pliers to get the bulb out, or the other good way of doing it is use a bit of rubber hose a bit smaller diameter as the bulb, push it over the tip of the bulb then pull the bulb out.
