Now you see that's what i was after.... I didn't know that flickr was more than just a hosting site etc..... What you describe is sounding good with the ability to join groups etc.... and check out what your friends or fellow group members have been doing with their cameras.

I think i might have a look at Flickr then..... Out of interest how much is Flickr per year for a full account???

erm i believe its $24.95 a year! its called a 'pro' account heres a copy and paste of the differences between that and a free account:

"What do I get with a Pro account?

When you upgrade to a Pro account for just US$24.95 a year (or R$45.90 if you’re in Brazil ) you get all this:

Unlimited photo uploads (20MB per photo)

Unlimited video uploads (90 seconds max, 500MB per video)

The ability to show HD Video

Unlimited storage

Unlimited bandwidth

Archiving of high-resolution original images

The ability to replace a photo

Post any of your photos or videos in up to 60 group pools

Ad-free browsing and sharing

View count and referrer statistics

Compare that to what you get with a Free Account:

100 MB monthly photo upload limit (10MB per photo)

2 video uploads each month (90 seconds max, 150MB per video)

Photostream views limited to the 200 most recent images

Post any of your photos in up to 10 group pools

Only smaller (resized) images accessible (though the originals are saved in case you upgrade later) "

theres this link here :

http://www.flickr.com/tour/

which is like a tour that shows you the features and benifits of flickr! now wheres my commision?!

If you have had a free account all your images are actually stored on Flicr in full size but access was limited. As soon as you pay for Pro all the features become available on existing images so there is no need to upload again.

I guess that's why my link is just a string of letters and numbers rather than a username etc???

il have a look but Wetkipper hasnt got a pro account and he has a custom url so im guessing you can!

yes - I've only got a normal account and have a username of my own choice

not sure if it's to do with being the same as a Yahoo ID I had already been using for yonks though.

thanks for the new contacts and the comments!

My flickr is here, mostly macro images.

Mine:

Lots of car pics on there, mostly stuff to go on the blogs but some other bits and bobs too.

I'll read through the tread in some more detail later and add some people as friends :)
