3/4 Point harnesses

Featured Replies

I`m after some harnesses for my Fabia, my mate has 4 point`s in his and after going it that i like them more than i thought i would. Anyone know where or what makes to go for? They seem to range from £40 each to £400 each!

Thanks

Matt

What are you using them for, and with standard or competition seats?

For road use, I'd stick with standard lap and diagonal belts, because they're more obviously "on" to a passing plod, and leave the back seats free.

For track-day use, a budget 4-point harness will be adequate.

You need competition seats to do this, but for competition you may actually need 6-point harness with anti-submarine (aka crotch) straps.

Brand-wise, I'm guessing you'll have seen Britax, Sparco and Willans in adverts. Again, I'd be happy with Britax for track days, but for competition, if I can't afford Sparco or Willans I'm not doing it!

You should check out the "CG locks" http://www.cg-lock.co.uk/

I have one and it works really well at keeping you pinned in your seat  and more "at one" with the car ;)

I even find I get less backache and more comfortable with it on :)

if its any help to you i had 3 point harness in a octy mk1 with standard seats on both the driver and passenger side

there nt the worlds most practical mod for day to day driving as there isnt room for people in the back

i brought mine from halfords red sparcos the day before going to castle coombe last year and had them ever since i love the feel of both shoulder being held in place when im driving at the speed limit ;)

Thanks for the replies, i have no rear seats anyway so thats not a issue. Had another look at my mates, his were just cheap ones, do the job, they must all conform to a level of safety. Guess i best get looking!

There are discounts available (eg http://www.manifoldonline.co.uk/accessories.htm ) and the company are quite open to group buys. I had one a few years back and used it for about 6 weeks before I sold it on. Didn't really find any benefit of it as it didn't stop your upper body moving around under cornering (as a full harness would) and it was also wearing away and bobbling the seat belt. A bit of a faff for short journeys too.

Your mileage may vary, as they say :D

I have one for sale.

It was on my old Mk1 Octy vRS, and they really do work, especially on track days, took it off when I sold the Octy vRS, and never got around to fitting it on the new car, so yours for £30 including post.

Please use PM first reply gets it

Now sold to Clive, the Armco King, he needs it more than most on here :giggle::giggle::giggle:
