Bluetooth Function in 2010 FL

Featured Replies

I've heard that the iPhone is not compatible with the Bluetooth included in the FL Octavia.

Anyone have a list of the actual phones that work with it?

Thanks!

Here's an extract from the brochure (dated 1/2010), not sure if anyone has a more up to date list which might include the iPhone?:

Mobile phones on the ‘3’ network are incompatible with the Bluetooth® phone preparation on Octavia.

Basically, if your phone has the rsap bluetooth profile (or in the case of some Windows mobile phones, add on software is available) it will probably work with the GSM III bluetooth kit in the FL Octavia.

The older GSM II kit uses the handsfree profile rather than the rsap profile and is compatible with almost every bluettoth phone known to man... This can be retrofitted if required.

I'm not a mobile phone power user, but neither my Sony Ericsson Z610i or LG Cookie 500 worked with the factory fit Bluetooth.

It found them alright, but said they were incompatible.

The Z610i is on the list so I don't know what I'm doing wrong.

I'll try me mate's Nokia5800 next week.

I haven't used a Sony Ericsson for a couple of years now, but is there a menu option somewhere to turn on rsap or Remote Sim Mode anywhere?

My mates 5800 had Remote Sim Mode on by default and it works great in his Golf with the GSM III although he has to manually sync the phone book which as far as he's concerned is not a massive problem as it doesn't change that often...

I have a Nokia 5530 which works the same as the 5800 and was paired to his kit at some point in the past... So if you're anywhere near me you're welcome to try that too (No idea where in the Midlands you are...). Maybe between us we can persuade your "compatible phone" to work too :)

Hi Raglits,

I live in N.E.. Coventry area.

I will try the Z610i as there were some manual BT setup options as you suggested.

The LG also has remote SIM mode, I'll have a fiddle.

Walsgrave area by any chance? I'm over the other side (Meriden) until the end of next week when I move back into Brum but am happy to try and help out - can you tell I'm a techie :)

Good luck with the phones, just think though, it could be worse and you could be dealing with the Black Art of wireless networks instead :)

Thanks guys! I have an E51 so I should be safe..!

Cheers Raglits

I enabled the remote sim function on my LG 500 Cookie and now it works a treat with the maxi-dot & Bolero.

This is a dreadfull excuse of a touch screen phone and I actually find it easier to use through the steering wheel controls.

Just need to tidy up my address book & I'll be happy.

E51 works fine, thats what i have.

Glad to hear one of the phones is working... I didn't order the factory bluetooth because I know my iphone doesn't have rsap, had a Fiscon unit fitted the weekend after I picked the car up which works a treat, but the GSM III is a cracking piece of kit if your phone is supported...

Does bluetooth come as standard on the new Octavia Vrs? I assumed it was an option?

It's an option on the DSG and not available to order on the manual. It can be retro fitted though

dissapointing bluetooth can only be a factory fit option if you go for DSG.. the Yeti Elegance has it with non-DSG.

My dealer did re-assure me though that retro fit is quick and easy, done through the sunglass holder in the roof and all the wiring is there apparantly which again is baffling as to why a factory option is not possible!

Just a quick heads up. Trying to carry out research into what mobiles have rsap installed so that it will work with the BT Skoda system - not an easy task. Think I have found an up to date list of handsets that will work.

Check here:

might be in German but you get the picture!

Cheers.

You can have bluetooth as a factory fit on a manual Octy, just not the vRS for some insane reason...
