Removing headlight clusters

Featured Replies

Hey folks, Just a quick one,

I am planning on splitting my headlights later today and had a quick check of my haynes manual and it tells me i will have to remove the front bumper in order to get the headlight clusters out. Is this really the case or is there a quicker way?

Being a Halfrauds employee i am used to old fiats and fords that normally require the quick removal of two or three bolts...

Any help is of much help.

Many Thanks.

yes, bumper off

yes, bumper off

It is possible if you loosen the two bolts on the front of the bumper. My whole xenon clusters come out without removing the bumper.

Takes some forcing/tugging though.

I got mine out when i tinted them, without removing the bumper.

There is 2 screws at the front just beside the headlights. If you take these out and then undo the headlight bolts it is pssible to get them out with a little "light" persuasion!! As said above. Just be careful not to overdo it! :giggle:

I only did it this way cos i couldn't be arsed popping those stupid little clips underneath!

Just remember. I was on ebay a couple of weeks ago and some guy was offering a part ex deal for 20 quid. Basically you pay him 20 quid and your headlights and he gives you a set with the inserts painted. He said he had both zenons and normal ones. Might be worth a try if you dont want to go with out headlights for a day or 2!

If you can't get them out just undo the torx holding the bonnet slam panel in place and lift it a couple of inches.
