Maxi dot... now standard kit?

Featured Replies

Guys I just had a call from dealer regarding a few things on my current order. He is now telling me that Maxi-dot is now standard on the vRS and that there is no option for this now. Great so I save the £££'s. BUT has anyone else heard this? or placed an order recently, so that they could confirm this is now the case?

Would hate for the car ot turn up without it. :wall:

I am certainly NOT saying wega3k is wrong .

But as Maxi-dot appears to be important to you perhaps you should take an in depth look

at the latest Octy catalog dated 1st April 2010. Below is a copy of what is included as standard

for the vRS, according to the catalog.

Standard Equipment (over S)

18†‘Neptune’ alloys 225/40 R18 92Y

‘vRS’ 3 spoke leather sports steering wheel

(multi-function controls for radio and paddle

shift - DSG only)

‘vRS’ design bumpers

‘vRS’ design sports seats

‘vRS’ kickplates

Additional 4 loudspeakers

Alarm system with interior monitoring

and backup horn

Body coloured door mirrors, handles

and rubbing strips

Chrome finished inner door handles

Cruise control

Also if you look at the list of factory fitted options the following entry appears.

Maxi-dot trip computer (excluding S,

standard on L&K and Greenline) £110.64 £19.36 £130.00

I think I would get a written statement form the dealer that maxi-dot is included in your order

just for peace of mind.

It's standard on DSG - seen it here written many, many times :)

Its standard on DSG vRS's...but ommited in the brochure.

It is standard on the DSG, its just not written down anywhere. My dealer has had it confirmed with Skoda UK

And there's a reason it's standard on the DSG - it's needed to display the gear you're in.

Not sure - my dad has a 2005 DSG Octavia with no Maxidot and it displays the gear :)

Probably to do with Facelift :)

That makes sense. Thanks to everyone who replied

The standard display can also display what gear you're in...

Thanks for clarifying :)

It's frustrating that the Skoda buying population need to work out what is standard since we can't rely on Skoda literature or the dealer network (as they only know what they read from Skoda).

It wasnt standard when I ordered mine 6 weeks ago, There was this level of confusion then. I paid the extra to ensure the car arrives with it and my order was accepted OK. Should it become proven without doubt that it is standard then I will push the dealer for a refund. Easier than retrofitting it if it arrives without it!

The dealer told me that the only thing extra you get with Maxi-dot, above the standard equipment is the display showing if any of the cars doors are open? This doesn't seem like much of an option for £130.... after reading through the brochure and looking at the website I cannot find out what you get for the £130.

Anyone care to enlighten me?

Going back to the comments about Skoda's brochure etc I must agree that is quite possibly the worst I have ever seen!

It's a lot more than just seeing what doors are opened!

It will report with a lot greater detail problems with the car such as low oil, or low coolant etc, and if you have a bulb out for example, it will tell you exactly what bulb it is.

Plus you have some more control over the functions of the car - like comfort indicators where you turn off the "3 clicks" on your indicators if you push down etc.

Well worth £130.

LOL thats exactly what 2 dealers said to me! Comes to something when both Skoda and the dealers dont know what is standard and what the stuff does. Thought they were meant to go on training days with new cars. Chap at VW I spoke to did when the MK6 did and he knew everything about it!

AFAIK the maxidot it standard with DSG (hope so) and mats are standard in the VRS. Maxidot may be standard on the VRS manual, who knows! There is also an anomaly with the ESP on the VRS - can't remember off hand now but according to the specs it wasn't as 'full' esp as the L&K but the VRS has XDS!

Also the spec list further up doesn't state the flat tyre indicator which I thought was standard....

It is full ESP on the vRS, or at least it is on mine which was ordered last September and built last December... You either have ESP or you don't....

On mine which doesn't have much in the way of extras I can (from memory) change the way the central locking works (one door or all doors on a single press of the unlock button), turn the auto locking on and off when driving away, turn the comfort indicators on and off, change whether the alarm beeps or not when turning on and off, change whether the daytime running lights are on or off, and I'm sure there was a couple of other bits and pieces I could do.

Admitedly, a lot of this is a one time setting change to get the car how you want it, but it beats getting it done by a dealer or having to find someone with VCDS to make the change...

According to your spec you've ordered Xenons according so another thing Maxidot will allow you to do is "flatten" the headlight beam beam for continental driving

One not so interesting thing about the new brochure dated 1st April 2010, is the display of a

totally incorrect picture, showing part of the car which applied to a previous model.

Not only is this totally misleading for potential buyers, who would naturally expect the car to be supplied like this,

but there could also be another folding mirror saga, with the dealers left in the middle.

Why can't Skoda UK get it right? They must pay someone to update their literature and its just not being done properly.

Someone's backside needs a good kicking and hard.

Just out of interest try and find the mistake I'm referring to, and post your answer.

is it the SatNav pic on page 12?

I haven't looked through the brochure, but I'm sure there's a statement along the lines of "pictures in this brochure may show optional extras or features that are not available in your market..."

For starters, most of the pictures in the brochure I picked up before ordering mine were of left hand drive cars... I certainly wasn't expecting the steering wheel to arrive on the wrong side :)

Oh dear. It is worrying that some Skoda dealers still are not au fait with usefulness of Maxi-dot.

IMHO Maxi-dot is worth the extra for what it allows you to do. Critically, if you have xenon lights and want to go to euroland then maxi-dot is essential, otherwise it's a trip to your friendly dealer to have lights changed for rh driving. This fact is not explained in the Octavia (2009) brochure which means if the dealer doesn't alert you to this requirement you're stuffed.

is it the SatNav pic on page 12?

Vep - your partly right

The actual pic of the dual-zone air conditioning unit, showing 2 led displays is, I believe , from a previous model.

Will some one please tell me if I'm wrong!!!!

I wonder how many errors we can find in this new brouchure. Makes one wonder if the issue date 1st April is significant !!!

Would be worth trying to see if we could get to say 10.

Well after numerous phone calls to the dealer they are going to supply written conformation that it is now standard kit on the DSG vRS.

Now just have to wait for a build date.... ho - hum.
