Indecision - Gobi or Onyx Leather ?

Featured Replies

Real dilemma approacheth - I really really like the Candy White Yeti over the other colours (Aerofurbs just looks so coool), but I also really love the Gobi leather interior and there the two dont mix, so do I compromise on the exterior look and choose another colour which goes with the inside ? or choose the Onyx leather and compromise on the exterior colour ?

Just wondering for those who do have Gobi leather, what is it like after it has had a bit of wear and tear and dirt on it ? Also does the whole interior trim ie sills etc have a lighter colour so not to clash with the Gobi seat colour as I noticed in one pic nice Gobi seats but with the door open they were sitting on dark bases ??

Sighh !!.....its a lot of money to spend on a car and get it wrong !

I like the Ghobi colour, and have had beige leather in both my last two cars (a Golf Mk 4 & my present Octy). In both cars, a leather cleaner/preserver kept them looking good, and I'd be concerned that the Onyx would get painfully hot in the sun when parked.

But as you say, it does restrict the paint colour. My preference is for Muscovado & Ghobi, but my wife likes the Corrida Red which I think would need the Onyx seats!

Chris

Only had mine for a day, so can't say how well the colour will wear, etc. I would have thought any decent leather cleaner will keep it clean. I had a light grey leather in a Mercedes before, and that kept "as new" clean for 4 years.

In my opinion, the various bits of black trim contrast really well with the Gobi leather. Some pictures (sorry, best I can do in the sunshine!!).

Hmmm it does look the business and really classy but again shame to have to compromise on my chosen exterior colour, so dont know which is more important, exterior or interior.........sighhh !!!!

Personally prefer the black - too many different coloured plastics on the dash otherwise.

Muscovado is a nice colour - saw one yesterday - "oooh, I like that brown" opined the Mrs.

Not sure it's of help but the international catalogue has a recommended colour matching chart My link

Seen a Tibetan White in the dealers recently, an SE with the optional (albeit expensive) black Alcantara seats which I really liked the look of.

I have seen white BMWs recently that have sand leather interiors. In fact the U.S this is quite a normal combination:

I think the white with sand leather looks really nice  . Matter of personal opinion of course.

But you don't look at the outside paint colour when driving, and you don't look at the interior when looking from the outside. With the tinted windows standard on SE and Elegance models - it does a nice job of masking that further.

I think White Yeti's are really nice, and i think Gobi will look nice as well. It's good to be different anyway!

Don't see why the gobi sand interior wouldn't go with white? Think that would look just fine

Wonder if aerofurb considered the gobi interior in his white beast ??

Wouldn't it look a bit too much ? If anyone has a white one with Gobi please let me know !

:smirk:

If white and Gobi was a really terrible combination Skoda would not even have allowed the combination to be built. You can have it that way and in my book it can also work. I'm a black/black/black/black interior sort of guy (in Audi speak - fabric colour, upper dash colour, lower dash colour, carpet colour).

Set the trend don't follow it!!!

As 90000 said - Skoda wouldn't allow it to be built if it didn't work. Why worry about what others on here think?

Quick comment on the Gobi sand interior...

Noticed yesterday that drivers seat on outer edge looks like it is covered with newspaper smudges!!! :'(

It is from my other halfs black suit trousers :o

We didn't have the leather protection done at the garage because... I was worried it would darken the lovely colour of the leather

Thinking maybe we should have done....

Most leather proetectors won't discolour the leather, not on Skodas anyway.

Hi,

bizarrely today I walked past a parked X type Jag in white with a gobi style interior, looked OK to me. :)

Having managed to keep my Fabia vRS seats clean for 5+ years the last thing I wanted was another light coloured upholstery. Even as the Chief Engineer I sometimes fall over in the playground and may not be quite as clean as I might be on the way home so black is a bit less stressful!

Not sure about white and Gobi. personally I prefer the black and white contrast with my SM. emoticon-0144-nod.gif

I saw several white cars with beige interiors when I was selling cars. Personally I liked the combination. Also, if there had been an option for beige cloth on my Corrida Red 'S' model I would have gone for it without question. The lighter colour gives a greater feeling of space and will help reduce heat build up in summer. It also provides an attracive contrast to the darker panels on the interior. If the dash top was beige as well I would not go for it but with the contrast it looks great IMHO. Go for what makes you feel happiest, I can't see it hurting residual values.

Hi,

I am new here but I have been in both a Onyx and Gobi interior, I have to say I prefer the Gobi interior, much more airy and the car actually feel very nice, but again the black looks nice too. Having said that I believe black is the interior colour for the standard cloth, so I think Gobi would be more special as an interior colour.

darker the better. GOBI will attract stains and marks and stuff

Hmmm I think I am pretty sure I will go for the Gobi as I just think it looks so good, but still unsure if it would go with white which would mean an alternative colour and the only other one I like is the Aqua Blue which the Gobi would be OK with (I also like the dark grey yeti but not available in UK).

Need to see if anyone has ever bought a white one with Gobi really its just hard to picture it

I think if you check the Skoda matrix of what goes best with Gobi you will see that neither white nor Aqua blue is a best match. So in either colour for the exterior you will be ordering something a little off beat. But as I said before Skoda gives you the choice and would not have done so if it was a complete colour mis-match.

White is so nice in the Yeti - i really not into white cars at all (thinking of the 80's), but it is one of the those colours that only really works on the Yeti (Snow Monster).

Do be such a wuss - you like White, you like Gobi - **** what anyone else thinks of it!!!!

Well put Krooked. It is YOUR car, just go for it!

Hi this is my first post but have been reading the forum for the last few months trying to decide which colour Yeti to order. I was also considering the Candy White with Gobi leather interior. Did you manage to find any images of this combination?

Looking to order in the next week and trying to avoid incurring the displeasure of my better half if I get this wrong. Any comments would be much appreciated.

No I still never found one but I took the plunge and ordered it in Candy White with the Gobi. Anyway a lot of new BMW's have white with a similar leather interior so what the hell. I will be spending most of the time in it so its only me that it matters for. If you like the two as much as I do then as said in this post, dont worry bout what others say, just do it. Or you could wait until mine comes and I will post the pics (around Sept/Oct).
