Looking forward to it - will bring recovery rope just in case ;)

I always carry mine, but I doubt that it will be needed on Claerwen.

Many years ago I drove up that road in a Fiat X19 on my honeymoon in January, so I can't see Snow Monsters having much trouble!

Sadly, I cannot order the Yeti I want (140HP or better still 170HP DSG Elegance) yet, so won't be attending. I hope you all have fun!

What up to the Dam, or the full length of the Lake?

No 170 DSG on the horizon but the 140 DSG goes into production WK22 (June); would have thought you could put an order in now :wonder:

I tried last Saturday with my nearest dealer in Worthing and the answer was, "Not until June" :(

In answer to the other post, full length of the lake, up the gravel road. (I was younger and more stupid then ;))

Rob

Might be worth giving James at Allams a call, recently posted about the new orange colour (from WK22) and the 1.4TSI (which comes into production in July).

Thanks Plumber,

I've been contemplating that but, since I'm after a deal I wanted to wait until it shows up on 'Drive The Deal' before entering into serious negotiations.

James certainly seems a lot keener than the (fairly) local lot.

:giggle: Llanigraham!!

Surprisingly, none at all!

In fact, most unusually for a Fiat, the only time that one let me down was the day I sold it.

The cambelt broke on the M25 and I arrived to meet the prospective purchaser on the back of a low loader.

Perhaps more surprisingly the prospective purchaser was still interested. He'd looked at several and mine was by far the best.

Luckily the pistons hadn't hit the valves and a new cam belt was all that was needed. :whew:

Sorry you can't make it Simon. You aren't that far away so could always pop over some other time.

I am away on holiday canal cruising for 2 weeks from Saturday, so could someone keep this thread up-to-date and somewhere near the top?

Bore Da.

Starting at Gayton, near Northampton, then heading along the Grand Union and down the Oxford to the Thames, and return. Hopefully we might get up to Lechlade.

And please.....it isn't a barge, it's a NARROW BOAT

Barges are big and wide and normally found on rivers!!

ooohhh controversial !!! Graham :giggle:

http://www.anglowelsh.co.uk/index.htm

"Book online for massive savings on the price of your Anglo Welsh narrowboat holiday.

Fantastic last minute self catering, narrow boat holiday offers available from Anglo Welsh.

With a selection of barges to suit all including a wide beam, and a choice of Traditional, Semi-Trad or Cruiser stern types."

...now then did you mention The Thames hhmm I could have sworn that was some kind of small RIVER :rofl:B)

Hmm, AngloWelsh...........no comment!!

If you want to be really "anorakie" then a barge can get up to Diglis Basin, but only a NARROW BOAT can get beyond Commandry Lock.

Definitions:

Barge: non-powered vessel, usually towed, but can be pushed. ( And yes I know, The Admirals or Captains barge was self propelled and the exception - there had to be one, eh?)

Boat: vessel self propelled in some way, power, oars or sail.

You should include the Thames Barges which are normally powered by sail, and butty boats which are normally towed.
