A sad day

Featured Replies

Well unfortunately due to changes in personal circumstances and also a policy change with vehicles at work, it was no longer viable to run my VRS especially as it was the petrol model.

I therefore took the decision to change the VRS for something that better suited my new requirements and something more economical to run, over higher milages, travel with work etc.

The replacement may not be to everyones taste but fits my bill: cheaper to insure, £90 road tax, and combined mpg of 60 all add up to a better package at the moment. It does seem to come with working indicators :giggle: and isn't that slow either. Start/Stop takes a bit getting used to however, bit disconcerting at times.

I'll still be hanging around the forum from time to time however :)

Definitely a sad day, your vRS was lovely!

Still, the Beemer looks nice! Will you be using your STS with it? emoticon-0136-giggle.gif

You have my sincere condolences :giggle:

Looks nice that.

What engine has it got?

It's only the 2.0 litre diesel, thought the 3.0 litre might be pushing it.

What's the story with the stop/start system? Something along those lines is notable by its absence from the Skoda range... Does it stop the engine when you stop at a junction and then pull away on the (Heavily uprated) starter motor while spinning up the engine at the same time? Urban mpg figures are the one place where standard diesel won't kill hybrids for a given performance level and by the sounds of it stop/start systems can do this...

When you pull to a stop, put gear to neutral and lift clutch the engine cuts out completely but still runs the heater/air con etc. Then when you dip the clutch the engine fires again and away you go.

It doesn't work if the car is under under certain conditions, i.e while the car is warming up and also wont work if it heating/cooling the passenger compartment significantly, or if the battery has a low charge, or rear screen heater is on.

The system appears to give approx 10mpg more vs. a car which doesn't have the system.

Just a bit tight yes emoticon-0105-wink.gif my neighbour does shoe-horn his 5 series in though somehow.

I think its a shame, your VRS was so nice. did you part exchange it or sell it?

you do go through your cars

Such a shame... :'( But doesn't look bad replacement. Will be fun next winter if it's as bad as the one we've just had... :giggle:

I'm considering going the other way and opting out of my 320d company and going for a VRS Diesel so interested to know the cars compare if you'd be so kind ?

Thanks

as are lots of rear wheel drive cars. My 330d was only drivable as I have 50kg dog cage in the boot giving more weight over the back wheels
