Fabia RS to a new Octavia RS?

Featured Replies

Afternoon all :)

I have been thinking about changing my motor for a wee while now and have just seen on carzone.ie that you can get a new Octavia RS smokey on a 10 plate for 28k euro!!....they used to go for 40K!! Thing is will i enjoy the Octy after having such kick in the asre performave that i had in the Fab? And whats this about not being able to remapped the new Octys?

The space will be a big bonus as getting hacked off with the tiny boot in the Fab!! And will also solve the very uncomfortable seat problem in the Fab!!

Any views on this ? Should i stay or should i go?!! :)

Cheers

Kit :)

And whats this about not being able to remapped the new Octys?

I think you can remap them, you just make the folks that apply the map work for their money :-P The ECU needs to be physically taken out the car is what a few folks have said, there was a post on here it might have been from JKM tuning if i remember right.

does this not only apply to the CR unit?

I've gone from the Fabia to the Octavia they are words apart!

Cant say I've ever felt the seats in the fabia were uncomfortable, they are great in the octavia.

To answer the question I enjoy the Octavia in a far different way than the fabia. Fabia feels faster but I dont actually think it is. The Octavia is alot more composed over bumper etc.

Honest which one is the better car? Its the Octavia...................but I love my fabia to bit, so much that I never did get rid of her.

I fancy one later on and would be more than happy with one. I would face a bit of a problem deciding to get the Diesel or petrol though. Petrol quicker but Diesel more economical, holds its value better and probably easier to sell. It's a tough one but both lovely cars!

Kit, why don't you come over here and buy an Octy RS? Surely cheaper then buying over there!

I might consider a diesel Octy RS when I move up in size from the Fabia...

Diesel Octy all the way!

If you have driven one, you know that its pretty sharp without a remap etc,

170 bhp and sack full of torque plus room enough for 5 and a Dog!!

Its all about the dog!! :)

If i buy a new one or one less than six months old then i have to pay VAT on it as well as VRT (which is 25% of the value of the car included VAT)!! So it will actually work out much more exspensive! The other option would be to buy one second hand in the UK but then that would leave me with a motor here to sell!!.....And nobody wants a super low milgae Fab RS over here!!

Kit :)
