I don't work in marketing or for a dealer or anything I promise! I'm an architect! I'm just curious as to other people's decision making process in buying a Yeti.

value for money - i was going to buy a Tiguan.

Just to get a Tiguan with same spec as Elegance was stupid £ money.

Also no DSG option on Tiguan and it wasn't a very economical vehicle.

The combination of an economical 2x4 with DSG automatic gearbox and great looks.

Handling and ride were pretty high on the list too - I wasn't expecting it to be so enjoyable to punt along a fast A- or B-road.

Ok I took out the colours and replaced it with ride and handling. (Since no one had voted for colours thus far anyway).

Ride, in that it is a refined drive and, not mentioned, ground clearance.

Wanted the reliable golf to replace my golf but wanted more room etc and usability and did not like the small booted tiguan

Once driven that was it

Ride, Handling, Performance, Closeness to Dealer, Looks and value for money are all really equal number 1's

Has all the new Yeti owners cast their votes in this?

If I didn't like the look of a car, I wouldn't buy it. Hence, putting this as my main reason. However, I think value for money would be a very close second.

Has all the new Yeti owners cast their votes in this?

Some of the older Yeti owners haven't yet! emoticon-0114-dull.gif

Unique means there is just one not that they are scarce, you don't get degrees of unique-ness!

Wilts_Yeti, if I may ask why have you given the Yeti 2 out of 20? That is a 'uniquely' low score and at odds with other owners.

Because in the 8 weeks I've had it I've had nothing but grief from it, breakdowns, bad build and hopeless service.

Normally I cover 30,000 miles a year, this thing has just reached 1,000 after 8 weeks - the rest of the time it's been off the road or the trips have been too important to my business to risk using it.

I must have been in a good mood to give it 2

Hi,

emoticon-0106-crying.gif to hear you have a troublesome Monster; disapointing I'm sure, particularly if by the sounds of it your getting poor service and support from the dealer.

If she's as bad as you suggest then have you looked into rejecting it. Yes it is possible done it twice myself; 91 with an Escort that kept going wrong and 96 a Skoda Felicia for similar reasons.

With the Felicia I came to an agreement to exchange it for the dealers newly registered demo, the Ford a cash refund minus a small allowance for the 4 months I had the car.

Might also be worth contacting some of these magazines such as What Car or Autoexpress; they appear to like having a go at bad dealers and troublesome cars.

Anyway I hope you get things resolved.

TP

Wilts Yeti,

EXACTLY what has gone wrong with your Yeti?

Because in the 8 weeks I've had it I've had nothing but grief from it, breakdowns, bad build and hopeless service.

I see, sorry to hear that. I have now read that you have suffered breakdowns and heavy oil and fuel consumption. I hope that they get it sorted for you because it is a very good car when it works. We suffered similarly with my wife's little smart car. I sent a letter to the dealer principle from where we bought the car quoting sale of goods act and fitness for purpose. The response was immediate and the problem now resolved. I think that if you show evidence that you have a grasp of the law they tend to jump a bit more quickly. That doesn't excuse the fact that it shouldn't have happened in the first place. Every manufacturer lays a bad egg now and again and it is up to the dealers to sort it out and restore faith in the brand. If your car is as bad as you say then you have very little to worry about because your consumer rights are very strong, particularly during the first six months. Get a new car and join the band of happy Yeti folk.

We are talking through solicitors as of tomorrow - we are rejecting the car and buying a quality product instead.

I'll post a 1000 mile report if I can put together something that doesn't seem totally inflammatory

Hi again,

thanks for your reply,

things must have broken down pretty badly between you and the dealer then to require solicitors. Also disappointing that this experience has put you completely off the brand.

Sincerely hope this difficult situation is resolved quickly for you and whatever you move onto proves more reliably for your business needs.

Don't forget that you can leave feedback on your dealer experience in the members review section, if you feel inclined in the future and obviously be interested in your thoughts on the Yeti inflammatory or otherwise but please be careful not upset the moderators ;)

Not being nasty or anything, but why does a fault with one Yeti mean that you have to rubbish the complete range?

If you look at any car manufacturer based forum you will see people have problems with a vehicle. It doesn't matter whether it is Skoda or Merc or Toyota or Ford. You are buying a manufactured item and it is impossible to get 100% perfection every time.

You may not have been treated well by your dealer, but I'm sorry your comment I have enbolded just seems vindictive and unneccesary, considering the majority of positive comments on here by owners about their Yeti's, and elsewhere in this Forum about other vehicles in the range.
