Ah well! The sacrifices one makes for looking cool eh? Guess I'll just have to clean the monster a little more often and be a bit more careful when climbing aboard.

Sounds like you'll be up to Aeros standard of "glowing white" B) ...

...reminds me of my uncle... who used to wash his sheep in Daz before showing them....

I've been looking for a UK supplier for Cobra gear Dave, did you find one or are they imported bits?

The UK distributor for Cobra (who are, as you may know, a German company) are Vanstyle - www.vanstyle.co.uk I ordered through them and delivery was approx. 10 days.

Well, if my monster ends up looking white from the black I've ordered then I'll know I've been washing it TOO much!!! emoticon-0140-rofl.gif

If you really want to pimp up your Yeti, there's another German firm called Milotec who specialise in Skoda aftermarket appendages. Check their site out...

www.milotec.de

They've got a picture of a Yeti with roof mounted LED DRLs but, as of yet, these don't appear to be available for purchase.

Hard metal "frontal protection systems" (Bull Bars) were made illegal in Europe a couple of years ago. You can now only fit plastic versions.

Also many insurance companies will not cover you if you fit them.

They are out there already!

I guess that's a big emoticon-0149-no.gif aimed at my Yeti then emoticon-0106-crying.gif Never mind, each to their own and the only person I really have to please is myself I suppose. It's funny though, when I took them in to the dealers the guys I spoke to in there can't wait to see them fitted as they thought they'd look great on the car. Even the manager took the contact details for the UK distributor.

Lots of cars I don't like the look of but I wouldn't ridicule the owners for their choice, that's best left to the 17 year old chavs.

Wow! First it was the mods having a go at me for challenging a guy who was doing nothing but finding irrelevant faults with the Yeti (and has since defected to Land Rover), now I've got fellow posters doing a hatchet job on me because I've decided to put stainless steel side steps on. So much for being a friendly bunch of people on this forum. emoticon-0101-sadsmile.gif

Dave...Always keep a sense of humour at all times :rofl:

OMG Dave...are you really having those "eyebrows" put on your Yeti??? I thought the Audis DRLs were bad enough  but those take the biscuit :D

From the pictures on the site they look good ... When you have them fitted dont forget the pictures ... I see www.milotec.de have some also.

Hi Davecarter, No dissing you intended. we all have our independent preferences, and that is as it should be.

My preference is power and performance combined with relative anonymity(sp?). The basic Yeti design kinda grows on you after a while, so adding cosmetic items spoils the built-in look to my eyes. But that is just to my eyes. Even the 17" wheels to me look wrong on the Yeti - they seem to signal "Autobahn 4WD - I'll never even dream of getting off-road, cause I'll surely get stuck". Not that I have any real off-road ambitions personally. Just getting to where I want to go in style, no matter what weather. In the same vein, I sorta chuckle at the little econoboxed that drive around with 17" alloys with very open spokes and 40 series (or worse) tyres. The fancy wheels are supposed to signal "cool", but the clear view of the Mickey Mouse decidedly non-high performance brake discs behind completely spoils the "cool"

One of the cute little Yeti things is the model designation on the back - only the initiated will be able to see what engine is fitted, and the uninitiated cannot tell if it is a 103 or a 170 hp diesel up front.

We certainly differ in what we want from our four-wheeled friends but that's what makes life interesting. Unlike yourself, I like my cars to be a little more individualistic and stand out from the crowd. Getting that second look from passers by gives me a warm smug feeling (yes, I'm a self-confessed poser I guess). When I had my LR Defender 90, it got adorned with Expedition Roof Rack, Bull Bar, Side Steps, pretty much every bolt on I could think of and I think it looked great as did many others (pic below).

IIL4888_2.jpg

No doubt there will be some who thinks it looks awful - c'est la vie.

We are of a similar mind with regards to power and performance. I love the fact that this will be a car that will not be slow off the mark and with a mind to, at some stage, investing in a Stage I ECU remap, having over 200 hp and over 400 Nm of Torque whilst delivering 50 mpg under the bonnet just makes me even more excited about the Yeti.

There are those who think I have made a real "climb down" from having an Audi TT. I just want to see their faces when they see it for the first time and, even moreso, when they take a ride in it.

Dave - what a fabulous colour - just gorgeous.

And you're right about the "posing" bit, cos it is interesting seeing necks crane to have a better look! I remember having a FIAT 500C back in the late 60s and early 70s, and sticking a "straight through" exhaust on it, fitting proper front-of-wing mirrors on it with extensions that stood them up as if on stalks, wheel spacers, and putting my initials on the front bonnet in black sticky-backed plastic from W H Smith - and then being stopped by the police whoo booked the car as a FIAT GMC!! How I laughed - as I paid the £5 fine for something trivial.

We all love our cars for something different. I, like Ager-B like the Q-car stealth of unexpected dig-in-the-back acceleration and ooomph that surprises people - just as you are anticipating. I also like the feeling of driving something a bit different. However most of all it is that indefinable shiver up the spine, that whoar!, that mmmmm, that "YES, YES YES!!!!!" of something that just works to your expectation (or exceed it) - the thrill of something visceral. I get that every time I get into the YETI and fire him up. I also get it when using my Apple iMac, the iPhone, and anything by B&O! And when donning a well-fitting shirt or jacket, or expensive shoes. It is a sort of justification for perhaps having spent hard earned dosh on something that others might see as self indulgence.

So - Davecarter - you GO, boy, GO - dress him up and let us all have a look and marvel at your transformations. (I could, if I knew how, post a pic of my Apple iMac!!!!!)

Apparently the cobra bars are legal...

Great story Freshacre and cheers to you and Retro Gal. I think you hit the nail squarely on the head there. emoticon-0148-yes.gif

Glad everyone has kissed  and made up :giggle:

Your Defender looks GREAT B) and I love the colour too

The world is a better place with variety  and yes it would be great to get all the Yetis on Briskoda together to see how different they can be!!!

Sadly departed with the beast over 10 years ago now. Got bought by a kiwi guy who shipped it back over to NZ. I'm hoping the Yeti will give me as much, if not more pleasure than she did.

Hi Dave,

The Candy Red Defender looks great. All the accessories are in character - and it even looks like it had functional off-road tyres.

  • 3 weeks later...

I thought it was cheap @ £55 for the fitting

The car was in for 2 Days as these things are a screw and glue fixing.

Have you by any chance kept the instructions?

Is it possible to scan and share?

I am considering the mod (DIY).

Thanx in advance!
