OBD-II on Felicia 1.3 LX

Featured Replies

hi

The former owner of my car told me once about the possibility of having some sensor data available for reading with a proper OBD-II interface.

My question is: where is the socket located precisely ? I looked under dash and no sign of it...

Any other related info will be greatly appreciated (what sensors are read, engine tuning etc)

If you're on a RHD car, it's under the dash on the right-hand side, placed vertically just behind the edge of the dash that's furthest forward (looking towards the front of the car). If you put your head where your feet are when you drive and look up, you'll see it.

it's not OBD-II on a felicia, just plain old OBD

any idea how the socket should look like ?

a photo, maybe, took from another Felicia ?

Just the same.

(obviously not sure about the connected pins, but that's what the socket looks like)

^^ yeah that's it. iirc there's only 4 wires connected, or maybe 3, it uses pin 7 (k-line) for the data transfer

socket found. looking exactly like the one in your picture.

it was under dash, at the extreme right, on a metallic bracket. farther from driver than expected (LHD).

I am very curious what sensor data is cabled... I'll keep you posted.

in module 01, which refers to the engine only..

if you are using vag-com you should be able to read measuring blocks on pretty much all the sensors like the crank sensor and temp sensor (inputs to the ecu)..

you will be able to perform output actuator tests on items like the carbon filter solenoid valve, fuel pump relay, etc(outputs)

as far as i'm aware the only thing you can't check is the ignition coil/coilpack

as a note i would advise you not to fiddle with any of the settings in module 25 (immobilizer) unless you know what you are doing, the last thing you want to do is un-program your keys from your car

I also bought a mini elm 327 adapter but Torque Pro just says "not connected to ECU".

Read somewhere car needs to be from 2000 onwards to be able to be read and mine is from '99.

Anyone any info on that ?

Sjips, didn't see I gave this topic a hell of a kick.

Not to worry, oldie but goodie this topic,

as far as I know, the open source elm327 chipset is for kwp2000 protocol, but the felicia uses a much earlier obd1 system which is kwp1280 protocol, I believe they are not backwards compatible sadly.

Is there a affordable solution to read the errors etc. yourself ? Istead of using the elm327.

Perhaps icw an android app.

There's plenty of open source stuff out there yes, but it's a bit risky delving into the electrics with shonky diagnostics gear that's untested, you are better off sticking with a reputable source like Ross-tech's vcds package because at least you can get support from them.

Felicia needs an OBD I (one) compliant interface and software.

TorquePro or any other Android app are not for OBD I, only OBD II.

there is not a more affordable solution than a ELM327 VAG-COM compliant interface.

but everybody knows they are Chinese  VAG-COM interface clones using cracked VAG-COM software.

Yes it's NOT an OBD II as some guys say-write and it's not compatible with those OBD II scanners.

I have bought and tested one of these, can not connected with the ECU so i think we must forget all these android applications as Torque etc.

Waist of time and money.

I wish i have read this before my friend

so Felicia owners don't proceed to a purchase because the results that will see will look like these:

You do realize you are replying to a 5 year old post in a 9 year old topic, right?

Google search helps no matter if it's a 10 year old post

At 2019 i decide to put an OBD II monitor-cellphone-tablet on my car, IF i had read my Ruski friend @dohnjoe

that he had an OBD and not an OBD II i would sane money an time, no next time a Felicia owner which have to do the same if he search about it specifically will be saved.

I am Greek and i am acting like we do here

if i can post something that may help someone no matter if it's years after i will post it.

Another example: i have an old refrigerator which worked like a charm for 18 years, no repairs at all and when i needed something i found it via Google search in a forum from a technician in a 7 years old post

I thanked the guy no matter if he read the answer or not, my consciousness told me to do it.

Here is something to chew on.

Skoda Felicia is using the ISO 14230 KWP2000 protocol for communication between ECU, sensors, and OBD socket. The physical layer is identical to ISO 9141-2. The OBD socket is using pin 7 as K-line and pin 15 as L-line. The data rate varies from 1.2 to 10.4 kBaud. A message may contain up to 255 bytes in the data field.

Some people used to research the possibility of interfacing their car's ECU with various type of displays.

Here are some useful links. You may want to contact them for advice.

Thank you a lot for the informations.
