Bushes again...

Featured Replies

Sorry guys, as a foreign national who is not as technical, I'd like some more thorough explanation on the bushes.

I need to get the left and right console bushings done as they are starting to crack. (around 400 GBP in my little country) There are only front console bushings, no rear?

Then there are ARB-bushings which are 2 front and 2 rear?

Referring to "suspension arm bushings" which of the above would that be?

And if it's the ARB-bushings, is there another name/description for the console bushings?

And which of those bushes is it that everyone is changing to other than Skoda ones? Ie like the earlier poster who fitted Seat/Audi bushes.

Thank you in advance.

On the wishbones there are both front and rear bushes. The rear ones are the ones that crack easily.

this guide may explain better

Thanks guys. That made it a lot clearer.

So are the console bushex the front wishbone rear bushes, or can it be both the front or rear bushings?

How can you tell that the bushes are on their way out?

Excessive noise over bumps, and excessive wishbone movement when car jacked up and wheel rocked. You can also look under the car and inspect the bushes at the rear of the wishbone. If they are shot, the centre portion will be skewed to one side. There is a new improved bush from Skoda, 4 support arms instead of the 2 on the old type bush.
