Self dipping/tinting interior mirror

Featured Replies

Having moved from a Vauxhall with a nice rotary arm that dipped the interior mirror when required I have to say that the Ovcatia push/pull one seems really bad, it never goes back to the same angle.

Now, I hired a megane that had a self tinting mirror which, was great - this got me thinking.... do any Skoda's have such a mirror that I could transplant to the Octavia? or perhaps another VAG car?

I'm assuming I only need to run 12V to the top of the screen to run the thing so it should be an easy mod.

My Superb has it as standard. I do believe there was a posting of how to do this as a retrofit, but I seem to remember it being MarkIV Golf based...but wont be too different.

there's one on the MKIV golf so I don't see why it won't fit.

Foxy's website here has instructions on how to fit an autodimming mirror to a Mk4 Golf (I think).

any ideas on cost as this is another thing i would like along with the auto folding mirrors, ejector seat number plate mounted rockets

is it just me or did that site not make total sense??? i thought it was a standard item that was bought and made to fit the car, that site looks more like the bloke was making the mirror

Reverse the dip - dip your mirror, then position it so you can see normally. Then 'flick' the lever to 'dip' it, then back and see if it's any better at retaining the view....
