Very tidy cabling! I approve! :giggle:

Yes -I like it ,but ,when you get what I've had - bad connections on the power leads to HDD ( 12V in to plug ,nothing out ) and IDE cables playing sillies - sometimes a neat layout is more of a hindrance than a help . Partly caused by one size fits all power leads from my PSU - SORTED ( I just extended them ) , but it's hard to find longer IDE leads .

IDE? You're still using IDE!?

I still have a floppy drive in mine.

Damn thing has been running for about 8 years without missing a beat. Missus won't get a new one till it dies.

A far, far greater loss than the floppy.

Anyone for a 'Turbo' button?

And at times like this ,when the system dies ,and tels you it can't see the HDD or the DVD /CD drive ain't accessible - those of us with no floppy drive ,or no understanding of DOS ,head down to the PC shop( like sheep to the shearing ring to get fleeced) .Those of us with floppies and a working knowledge of DOS , get stuck in and system is up and running in minutes ,waiting for an OS to be put on .

I run a light-weight Linux distro from USB stick ;)

DOS?!!!!

Not much DOS left in this world, even BIOS updates don't need DOS these days.

Serial ports

Great for:

- vag-com

- x10

- configuring serial devices (cisco and the like)

Just a bummer my current machine only has one serial port, and my "garage" PC just beeps at when when I turn it on now... bad bad thing :S

Well mine didnt even make a squeak, powers up and I dont even get a POST.

Been told i can have the bios reflashed as that is the cause of the problem, not sure how that works if the PC does not boot to POST.

Seen that with borked memory.

Also wonky psu.

Both PSU and Memory are fine, tested them in another machine. infact the 4Gb I had in this machine is going in to my media\LAN PC.
