TDI Turbo cut out

Featured Replies

I have a 2002 laurin & Klement octavia tdi and I'm trying to find a part number on the MAF sensor.

I understand from some of the postings that the MAF is a good place to start with the turbo cutting out under load other than that it might be a turbo refurb due to the vane sticking.

Can anybody help me out with the P/N as I don't want to order the wrong part?

I've seen some on Ebay for £26 but don't know which one to get.

find someone near with VCDS and get the car checked for error codes.

If it is the MAF then have you tried unplugging it? If it doesn't get worse then it probably is the MAF. AFAIK cheap MAFs on ebay aren't a good idea, your better of getting a genuine one.

If the problem goes when you cycle the ignition then it is more likely to be the turbo.

Agreed, particularly since the few 2002 (02 and 52 reg, so probably applies to at least 03 reg) L&K TDis I've seen were all 110s, and the 110 engine seems to suffer most from the sticky vanes problem.

This is interesting, I have the same prob that Im currently trying to cure with a friends Golf, only fifference is it has the 105 bhp PD unit, have taken it to work and plugged it in the only fault code stored from what I remember was something along the lines of pressure limit exceeded, have cleaned everything out, fitted new EGR valve and have also changed N75 valve too.

The car only does it in top gear when really winding on the power getting up towards 80 or so and does it all the time with his caravan on the back, Im starting to think that it aslo has a turbo fault but the strange thing is the actuator works fine and has full range of movement

they don't need to overboost for long to jump into limp mode. If the vane mechanism is a bit sluggish that will do it. 9 times out of 10 cycling the ignition will return everything back to normal for a while.

I've heard good reports of the Innotec cleaning system, maybe worth a go for £30-odd
