Awesome GTi remap on Ebay

Featured Replies

just booked my fabia vrs in for the remap, cant go wrong for £150,has anybody else had there remaps???

Thing is.... you can go wrong.

I've read a huge amount of bad reports on here and other forums about Awesomes own maps.

If these settings they are using potentially result in damage to the car - then you all of a sudden have done wrong.

I'd spend the extra money on remaps that only have good words for them, Shark, RS Tuning, etc

Thats just me though. When it comes to things like this you have to go on what people find and if you do a search on here you find only bad for these maps, so much so the cost doesnt even come into it.

Was just asking as it looked liked they had a 2006 vRS which is what we have but I thought they were around 130bhp standard.

Later BLT engines were nearer 150bhp stock.

The only way to know if a remap is good is to actually see it, the actual maps that is.

I was going to go for this, but seems a lot of people are a bit unsure because their remaps can cause damage to the clutch / turbo etc? can any one recommend a better mapping place that won't cost me an arm and a leg afterwards? i've just fitted another engine into my furby vrs and it has 50k on clutch engine turbo and gearbox ? some one said carbon tuning in manchester or chipwizards (but they are like £450!?!)

Thanks in advance

Depending on how it's been driven, any map can cause you clutch problems. A carefully driven car could have a virtually "as-new" clutch at 100k and still be good for nearly 300lb/ft. A badly driven car could have a clutch with half the milage that's only just holding the 230lb/ft standard torque. It really is a lottery IMO, if you can't afford the possible cost of a clutch then don't get it remapped.

Just had my vRS remapped by Awesome today.

Staff were excellent, friendly and helpful and I got a free cup of coffee (it was cold and ****ing down so an extra bonus).

Just driven the car back to Blackpool and as well as having a noticeable power increase, its a lot smoother and nicer to drive.

So far I can't fault them at all. I'll update this response after driving it for a few days/week and try give an honest review of the remap.

UPDATE:

Only been 2 days, but its been a VERY fun 2 days.

Power delivery is smooth, and even with the little high speed blasts it seems to be better on fuel.

And also forgot to add when I was having the remap done, whilst testing the car the engineer noticed the Driver side wiper was catching slightly on the A Pillar, so he took it back in and tweaked the mechanism slightly to remedy this.

I know its only a small easy job, but the fact they did it for me, no hassle and no charge shows just what a decent company they are!

Already trying to convince the better half we need to get booked in for more bits (Exhaust and Suspension), and when I have a bit of free time I'll be booking another afternoon off work and driving down to them for a rolling road session to see what the new map is actually doing and producing.

  • 4 weeks later...

Awesome's rolling road can be quite optimistic in my opinion, and a friend of mine wasn't too happy with his Awesome generic map on his Ibiza PD130. He found it quite surge-y and when he had it dynoed elsewhere they thought it was boosting too hard for the weaker stock KKK turbo on Fabia/Ibiza PD130s vs the stronger Garrett on (for example) a Golf/Passat PD130.

I got this £150 remap - I too wasn't happy after looking at the numbers, so i'm going to get it removed and pay the extra for the peace of mind on a custom remap.
