Don't know if its all related but I'm getting idle issues as well, TB is spotless

I'm thinking blocked something

Y pipe is good as is the one under the manifold

Any thoughts, that clag looks like it came out wet as it looks like water marks, but this was taken during the dry spell last week so it hadn't rained for days.

Help me out here ......................Your my only hope !!!

Is your car a diesel, they can chuck alot of black guff out the back when you accelerate. My exhaust is quite sooty around the inside of the tailpipe. i believe its because its running a little rich. car runs fine tho.

It could be something too do with him, he's in charge of licking my exhaust clean, .........I'll have a word with him when I get home to let him out of the shed

Clag around your backbox?

Ooo-errr missus

Looks like oil spots to me, or unburnt fuel. Any fault codes coming up re. your idle issue?

still got a cat?

Laptop battery dead .....Charging now !!

still got a cat?

Yes but he craps out the back lol

Yes the cat is still there !!

this is what happened on mine a a few weeks later my oil seals failed on the turbo

check and monitor your oil level as that will show if it is something like oil seal

put a piece of paper behind the exhaust a give it a rev and see if you get any oil droplets on it.

Does it just wipe off or is it a more "solid" residue?

Really .....Would it show on the floor after a while, It's been using a little oil, about 400ml in 4 k, not a lot really

put a piece of paper behind the exhaust a give it a rev and see if you get any oil droplets on it.

I'll give that a try later

Wipes straight off

And i assume its only recently started doing it. In which case, could be turbo oil seals starting to go :(

Both the vRS's I'be had have done that, and I haven't noticed any problems. I've noticed that the tailpipe has been quite sooty on both of them.

My theory is that the soot in the pipe mixes with the condensation droplets and sticks to the car.

its actually a sure sign of oil burning wich in any car isnt good lol

mine started like this about amonth ago and never crossed my mind i had an issue its only when i used 2 litres of oil in 100 miles lol and the jet stream of blue and black smoke on boost i knew i had an issue lol

Wouldn't worry about it, looks like the wet ****e blowing out of the exhuast after it's been left overnight.

Mine does it sometimes, and I don't lose any oil, and my turbo is perfect.

The cat absorbs a fair old bit of moisture when left, that's why the car blows steam from cold. All that moisture just brings out any liitle bits of soot in the exhaust, and spits them out, which sometimes gets blown onto the bumper. It's fairly common, but people rarely notice it.

Lots of idling and short trips make it worse, as the cat never gets a good long run at temperature to fully clear out the exhaust, so it just builds up.

I think you'd notice some blue smoke if the turbine end piston rings were leaking badly. Classic check is just put your palm close to the exhaust and give it a sniff after. I expect you're fine though fatty!

volcanic ash? :giggle: I had a look at mine and there was some residue on the rear :giggle: but then again mine had it all over the front of the car so would quess I have driven through something.

No faults codes

It does look more watery than oily

So I'll go with that for now lol

My one has done this for about 2 and a half years only stopping for a bit after fitting my new exhaust (I assume that there wasn't any soot to spit out when condensated)

Here is the photo from when I made the same post a while back. Looks the same, maybe slightly worse...
