Tail/Fog light bulb

Featured Replies

Just had a problem replacing the nearside tail bulb - it was so tight to get out that the glass came away from the base - joy of joys!! Eventually got the base out with a bit of bodgit & scarper. Went to put the new bulb in and it really didn't want to go, this a standard 21/5W twin filament bulb type 380 in which the pins are offset but diametrically opposed. Having looked at the bulb holder I realised that it was made for a different type of bulb, 566 where the pins are not diametrically opposed. Type 380 is by far the most common type, I didn't even realise that type 566 existed, there is nothing in the handbook at all to say which type.

So if you've had problems getting tail lights in or out, now you know why............................

Lol but yes its a bit of a pain to take out, Hence one should replace them with LEDs..!

Lets guess, you looked in the Halfords list to see which bulb to buy? Big mistake! :)

I did look at Halfords after the event, you're right it's a pile of poo. I just didn't know that there was a type 566, always used 380 before on all my cars and bikes.

Yes they messed up with the Polo 9N application list too - but luckily for me I took a bulb with me or had already read on the details from the original bulb!
