Featured Replies

Hi am looking at the ebc rear disks, but really am getting confused at what pads to get, i do like to give it wot somtimes and its suggesting green stuff pads but have heard bad reports about them can any one help? Do certain disks accept certain pads?

you can put any pad with any disc...personally i replaced all my pads/discs with mintex ones from ebay and my brakes are excellent.

Mintex better than standerd??

performance wise prob not better but as good as.....but they are well made items and do the job...the main improvement is obviously uprating the fronts to 312's and fitting ferodo 2500's or similar but it starts getting costly...

Have u considered getting Pagid pads and discs from Eurocarparts?

OEM manufacturer and supplier, top quality stuff

What pads do you have on the front?

You must not put better (higher frication) pads on the rear than the fronts, as you may lock the rear wheels up under braking.

I recently bought EBC Green pads and plain discs for £100 ish for my car. I have Green front pads aswell. If you have OEM pads on the front, then EBC do produce Ultimax (Black stuff) which is OEM quality with the added advantage of (supposedly) producing less dust as standard ones.

I have standerd on the front they must of been changed just before i got the car because they look brand new!

I don't want to be padantic but Pagid are not, as far as I know, OEM of rear discs or pads for VAG cars, they do however supply front pads to VAG and another of their brands, Textar are supplied as rear pads to some VAG cars. Its very easy to get mislead over the term OEM, its only relevant when referring to OEM of the parts you are buying. Mintex are their cut-price UK based arm, Pagid and Textar pads are still quality stuff though.

My old rear pads say "Galfer 4553" or something like that. They have a VW and Audi symbols on them as well.

exactly as mentioned on the 'OEM' listings, some manufacturers can be used for a certain model of a car, not a whole range, so dont believe what your told by some people

I agree and did the same as member 'warwick hunt.'

E.Bay beat local shops/stores near me for price including delivery charge.

About to order some rear Discs and pads £14.50 + £13.90 delivery charge, from E.Bay.

Rear discs now three years old and rusty as an old anchor, will never pass MOT in June.

UPDATE.

Cleaned discs up, gonna risk MOT without replacing, (fingers crossed)
