ticky creaky sound from the rear

Featured Replies

I know the vRS' interior is kinda cheap but just over the last couple of weeks i';ve noticed a new noise and i think its internal and coming from the back. I removed the rear headrests, strapped in the seatbelts, checked for anything loose. Didn't help. The parcel shelf seems secure but there was a small amount of movement side to side to i cushioned it with blue tack., there's nothing loose moving around in the boot either.

So now what else can i check?

has anyone else heard an odd noise which sounds plasticy and between being a creak and a tick?

i think most cars have some kind of trait re creaks...try lowering rear seats and get sum1 to sit in the back when your driving see if they can identify it..

thanks i did think of doing this. I may do it myself but ask someone to drive it. I could maybe sit in the boot partly like...put lower seats down and get inside boot and listen out. get a first hand view of things then.

Have you checked there's nothing loose in the tool kit?

I recon this'll be a bit of hatch trim though.. both my Fabia's have had little rattles in this area. Keep meaning to strip it down and check / secure but it's one of those things you just tune out after a while and forget about..

The Fabia is built so well, it's a shame they rattle so much!

Lower rear seat backs and unscrew the two rubber stops two turns on the inner arches that support the seat backs.

do i have to fold the rear seats forward to get to this? why unscrew them? i'll have a look when i get home

I think my Furby suffers from this and I don't even have any back seats in it so its nothing to do with them. Might try what Moggytech suggests and have a play with the rubber stops

moggy means unscrew them so they become tighter against the seat presumably.

thanks, i figured this out when i compared both. One was slightly looser. Also their was a bit of loose plastic trim in the boot which i stuck some bluetack over, the jack in the boot seemed not secure so i wrapped a cloth around it and now theres no noise! i'm very pleased!

thanks to all that helped me sort this out and got me looking in the right places.:)
