Yes if the car is regd as a 1.4 and its a 1.9 it is not just illegal its a coppers dream bust. Surley mot stations would pick that up! Could you imagine phoning the insurance company-

"hi i want to get insured on this registration no xxxxxxxx" "we have that as a 1.4 fabia sir" "erm well no i put the vrs engine into it" "right so what actually are you driving" "good question i dont know"

Calm down ! Calm down ! Its only a modded Fabia, dear.

It's not a death ray - unless your're a dealer ! :giggle:

Commercial companies do street legal engine swap out's/mods from standard's every day of the week. Rumour has it that even JC has been seen on the TV driving a couple, (OverFinch Range Rover, modded BMWs)

Do you have to get full type approval from the DOT for custom cars. I think not. Just certification from a DOT appointed engineer. Ok, so the real on-the-road cost is £1,000 + £500

Question is this being offered at a large enough discount to a real VRs that would compensate for all the aggro of making it street legal.

Should it prove to be the case that comply or die is the order of the day, then it becomes someone's track toy.

It's had 20 bids

From 20 ch*vs who most probably will try and insure it as a standard 1.4.

I assume the scooby it beat was the one where the fabia driver was the only one that knew they were racing. Either that or the parked one.

I've just got in touch and asked him how it can be low insurance and tax when it's got a vRS engine, and shouldn't this be declared to the DVLA and the insurance company?

He simply replied:

"well thats completly down to yourself sir"

Nice! :wonder:

Does anyone know the legal implications of not declaring a different engine to the DVLA? Obviously not telling the insurance company is fraud and you won't be insured, but wouldn't the police be interested in this?
